Ted Reader: Quickie Griller Recipe #4, Planked Beerlicious Baseball Burgers, dead easy no more flipping your burgers and having big flavor ups on your grill; you are going to do this on a cedar plank.
So let’s get right down in the business. I am going to put on some rubber gloves for I want to mix on my burgers mixings are little bit easier and little less messy, so we got a pound and a half of regular gram beef you can use leen, you can use median, you can cervine, you can Turk what ever kind of gram meat you want to use, if you want to do this with chicken gram chicken, gram pork, gram lamb, gram turkey any kind of gram meat will work. So you have got your gram meat, now into your gram beef you are going to add some better butter burger seasoning you can add about 2 to 3 tablespoons for every pound of meat we have got about a pound and a half to 2 pounds of gram beef in here and my tip is that you just sprinkle the burger seasoning all over the top of the meat when you cant see the meat any more you have got the perfect amount of seasoning.
Keep your hands and your fingers like a claw and mix it in another tip make sure that your gram beef is icy, icy cold because it should be a kind that numb your fingers when you are mixing it, cold burgers make for better burgers okay. You don’t need to add bread crumbs you don’t need to add bread or any other kind of binder you need extra onions or parsley or anything fancy manicy just that our planks soaked for 1 hour these are cedar planks half an inch thick, 12 inches long, 6 inches wide. If you want you can use Oakley, you can use maple as well or any other kind of wood as long its untreated no real baby. Alright make a baseball just the sizing your fist you are going to make 6 balls nice round baseball just like that 3 per plank here we go, like that Alright. You don’t have to spray them or anything.
We got a preheated grill its set above 450 degrees we are going to set that in I am just going to turn down the heat a little bit we are going to do 3 more here. The raising your pack at like this is to get the air out of your burger very important to get the air at the way it will stay together Alright and when the meat is cold it stays together. I love burgers my favorite things and what’s amazing about these base ball burgers is at the bottom line is you are not going to be pushing or squishing or flipping or moving it around them the plank they are going to stay moist and juicy. 3 burgers per plank into the grill we go, close the lid and also you are going to plank bake for about 20 to 25 minutes as they are cooking we are going to start the base them with the Beerlicious barbecue sauce and then we are going to top them with cheese bacon and what ever you want to put on your burger you put on your burger Alright here we go, look at that.
Plank Beerlicious baseball burgers and why is it Beerlicious? Well we are using my Beerlicious barbecue sauce it’s going to base the outside of the burger with this sauce just lightly you don’t need a lot just a little bit all the way around get it going. Oh yeah, now you got the sauce all round in we are going to take some cheese and you can pull it all kind of cheese on it that you want to put on it, okay on my burger I like my American stove cheese the process cheese just over top like this. This is the keys to the baseball burgers now close the lid for just a minute and that cheese is going to melt and wrap it surf around those burgers you watch.
My philosophy about a burger bun is it should be plain and simple nothing fancy about your burger bun just plain and simple burger buns. You know I wont have all these other flavors the flavor that you are looking for is in the meat you see the cheese is melting all around now for some of them may be part of the crowd wants to have a little bit of bacon so I have taken some mixture of thick sliced bacon here, we will do three slices of the bacon on 3 of them and 3 with out buns are toasting close the lid for just another second notice. Our burgers on low. You don’t have to be doing this on high heat no rush, the longer it takes to cook the more beer you get think about that. That’s a good philosophy to follow okay, everything is ready now its your burger assembling time take your bun right you wanted more toasted you can have a more toasted I am going to create a burger for me because this is my burger.
When you are at home and you are on your grill you toast the burger the way you want the burger okay. I am going to start with my honey lager mustard nice amount on the amount on the bottom no lettuce on my burger not a big salad for my burger I want the meat and the cheese and the bacon Alright, tomatoes I love them rather having them on the side I don’t want it on my burger you wanted it on your burger you put it on your burger. I like onion so I am going to take a nice piece of red onion and just stick that there like that, then and over here I get my baseball burger you are going to put it there like that okay. And I am going to take the top of my bun and I am going to go in here and I am going to get my red neck white sauce okay, just smooth that way just like this and this white sauce is like my special burger sauce.
It’s a special sauce and by the way it’s a thousand times better than anybody else’s trust me it is. I like a couple of pickles here we go, and dwell up that’s how I like my burger. I don’t want any thing else on it you create your burgers and there you have a Beerlicious baseball burger that has been plank no flipping no squishing no turning and you are probably wondering how I have to eat this very carefully baby very carefully you can do it like this or you can or you can squish it down and trying to fit it in but the really take little bite, its amazing.
