So guys, this is a new request that we just got this morning. I will be playing a song by Jack Johnson it is called Better Together.
The intro is really distinctive and it is actually really, really easy. Put the Capo on the 3rd fret so it will make the strumming easier. You can do it without it but then you have to play more barre chords and do it this way. So put the Capo on the 3rd fret, standard tuning. You can play it really in different few ways. I like to play it where I just use my pointer finger and then just barre it because every notes that you play, it is going to be on the same fret when you play it. Start on 10th fret, I will put my pointer finger across the two middle strings which is where I place it. If you want to put your pointer finger at 10th fret of the E, A, d string and 10th fret of the G string with your middle, you can do it. It is rally up to you.
Start on the 10th and you play these two strings. You are going to play the top string, your D string, slide it to the 12th fret and play 12th fret. Play the top string. Slide down in 10th. Play the bottom string. Play the top string and slide down to the next fret. Play the bottom. Play the top string, slide down, play the bottom. So all I do is play on the top string, you slide it to the next fret and play the bottom string. So the numbering is I just think of 10, 12, 10 and down to 7 to 5 back to 7, 10, 12, 10. So you are going 10 to 12, 12 to 10, then 10 to 7, 7 to 5, back up to 7, back up to 10, back at 12 one more time then back in 10. Once I do that back up 10, I play the 10 one more time and take your pointer finger off and play it open so just play that D string open. So one more time put your pointer finger barre across the 3rd and 4th strings down the D and the G string and play the D string from the top string. Play it once, slide to 12 so just think of the numbers. Think of 10, 12 and 12, 10, 7, 5, back to 7, 10 , 12 back to 10 then open like that.
That is the intro. I am going to teach you the very end of the song too. So play on the bottom two strings. You go to 10, 13, 10, 8, 10, 13, 15, 13 10 so I just think of it as 10, 13, 10, 8, 10, 13, 15, 10 so it sounds like this. Now, with the Capo on the 3rd fret, I think it becomes much easier. We have two sets of chord during the play. The first one is the D. You can even put this middle finger down. So your D, open, open, open and the G string, 4th string in the top. Put your pointing finger at 2nd fret. Then on the 5th string down then your ring finger is third and then the bottom string of high E. The middle finger is2nd fret so you go like this. You keep that same chord but you add your pointer finger on the 2nd string of the A string. You add your pointer finger on the 4th fret of the capo and go 7th fret. So it gives that little low sound.
Then the next thing is a Bm so you switch the barre across the 2nd fret on all these strings, take your middle finger and go on the 3rd fret of your B string, 5ht string up in top and 2nd up from the bottom. That is your middle finger. Then take your ring and pinky and put on the 3rd and 4th strings down on the 4th fret of the capos. Go back to A, D, G, B and then start over to the 2nd line. Go to G which is 3rd fret on the low E string and the top string with your middle finger. Then point your finger 2nd fret, open, open, in the middle and then 3rd fret is your ring and pinky. So go G, D/F#. All that means is your regular D chord and add your thumb so it covers the 2nd fret here. Then go to E minor which is pointer finger, 2nd string down 2nd fret and middle finger, 3rd string down 2nd fret to another A. So it sounds like this.
The same thing again, do that four times then there is an A flat really quick before you get into the pre-chorus. Play D, D major 7, Bm, A. For the second line from G, D/F#, Em and you do that four times. After the fourth one, you are going to switch to the barre chords.
