Let us bring the defense back in, I want to see- I wanted to show you a different look with different zone defenses is on the court. So, the blue team has come down. Let us go to a one-two-two.
One man is here, three men comes up, you got two guys in the paint. Point guard you are going to come down the court for the Blue line. What do you see? Hold the ball, what do you see? A one two-two so now you calling play number two because you see above the foul line there is gap in the defense here; there is a gap in the defense here.
That means we are going to rotate another guard up here. The point guard will fill a gap down here. We are going to rotate our shooter to extend the defense half way down the way. Swing the ball to him before he set an offense.
This means if the five men does not come out, if he stays home you got a wide open shot. If the five men does come out, we have just isolated our post player. Right there, go ahead and pass it in. Freeze right there, you can drop step either way. Now the post player- face front here, right there. Hang on to the ball. If the post player gets double teamed, he now has two options.

All you have to over to do is stay in a gap, so swing the ball up high. The point guard’s got a shot, if he does not, boom! Somebody is left; we have rotated just by simply moving positions in making an extra pass. You force the defense to over extend, to over play and you can get easy shots out of this if you are willing to be patient enough to make the right number of passes and find the person that is open.
Let us try this live and see what you can get. Start from blue line. Go ahead defense and follow the ball best as you can. Play live defense. Hold it. You are the leader, you have to read this. Now you have got a smart coach on the other end of the court.
Your coach is smart because he uses his offense. When we have got a smart coach on the other end of the court, every time-down, he is going to change his zone defense from a two-three, to a one-two-two to a one-three-one, you got it.
So you cross that line you put the breaks on you call out a one or two. And you make sure somebody fills the gaps before you get going. Good. Fill the gap. Fake and pass, take your time, fake and pass. Keep the defense moving, good, put it up. Good. Put it up. Good nice job lets do it again. Make sure we go five passes.
Now again, the key is, to discipline your team so if they are willing and they have the habit. Everything comes down the habit. They have the habit of making five passes before they shoot the ball. I will call out the number of passes. Point guard, you read the defense and designate if you are running play one or play two.
So we got two guys up high, he is filling the gaps. Fake and pass. Good. There is five passes, now you can start looking when you get good shot. Fake to move the defense, fake inside, fake to the wing. Do not be- There are you go. Good isolation, kick it out. Good! Alright, good. Put it up. Freeze. Now what you saw on that is that we had two people in good position. We had a wide open shot he will knock down three out of ten that is all he needs to do just because they made the extra passes.
Lets go to a two-one-two defense, we will show them another set. Let us go, let us take a look, fill the gap. Fake and pass, do the gaps big man. Okay, good. Nice wall. Alright take you time do not be in hurry. You always stay on the wing now. Good job. Nice job. Nice dish out. That is nice pass by the low post, you also had a cutter, but you made a good read. You had one or the two open passes. Again this comes down to repetition, getting everybody to know what their roles are and getting them to be affected.
