According to me, and about 15 or so, maybe 20 of my other students, we have come to the conclusion that this way is easier, because you do not have to hook your arm of your muscle here and let that stress you tendon. Just do this and just see how it feels in your arm, it kind a hurts where it feels like you are doing something. But if you are pushing like this, it is a lot different, as long as you are not pushing you act, because that hurts, this hurt to your finger.
So, what you want to do is push it from above because we can use gravity to help us push form above. Our entire arm is made is being pushed in, versus this way, our arm made is hanging down this way and then we are using our muscle to compensate for the weight and pull it down like this. So if you come from the above, we are using all arm out to help us from below it is hindering us and we have to make up for the muscle.
That means said, gravity moves in one straight line. If I am above the keys, and that you, say I have my check with and that is through towards the piano, it could line on the keys, I do not want to do that because I do not want to break them. If you could see that if I threw it with enough force, it would kind a go like this, right? That makes sense?
So what if I put my arm like in that same motion, now I can push the gravity and the weight of my arm, help them gravity, whatever. As you can see I do not script my lessons, I do not even go back edit them or anything; it is just laugh as it happens. So we just push in the keys like this. And see all of it all the way it is just going see as it hears.
Now, what if it is below like this? Now I am sitting on a taller bench because actually this is the best height for you. The best height for your bench is if your elbow is above the keys but most of the time, so you have to compensate with your elbows.
We do not want to be underneath the key because guess what will happen, if I throw my weight here, do you think it is possible for the weight to go back up and then go back down with out any muscle help in us? That would be like saying that if I would threw through this pen down this way then it will magically go up like this and hit the keys. So if I do not like that, it is going to come up like this flat. But it could go like that, I could throw it this way and it will blunt. So that is what we are going to try and do.
So if you notice your arm below the keys it is impossible for you to come back up and then go back down to the keys. Straight up, you take like the book and then you put your hand and then you just make sure that your hand is above that book. That is like the thresh hold them weird guy but he can help you. So if your hand is above that, it helped and if not then you are out hindered.
That is pretty much how that works, so we want to stay above the white keys, or if we are also going to play the black keys, above the black keys to. Otherwise then anything we playing the black keys it would not be helping us either.
First thing is hold up the hand, drop them into the keys, keep them relaxed then flatten your arms out with the floor, kind a keep them parallel and then, to make sure that our hands are above the white keys, we are not going to pull our shoulders up. Here is an example. If there is someone infront of you and you want to elbow them in the head corporately. We do go out like this on them. All in that because your shoulder can only pull out so far and you have to pull your whole arm up with that muscle, and it is not kind a built that way.
But what if you probably go like this, right, to raise your arm up and hit them in the face then you want to lean on them or whatever. How are you going to do that, I am not exactly like a martial artist or anything. Or I do not know the proper way to elbow someone because I have not done it before actually.
So you just want to pull your elbow up because that is the quickest way to pull your elbow up and it also takes the lease amount of effort. Just try doing like this and try going like this, which is easier to you? To me it is a lot easier to go like this, sort of like that little chicken dance. You are going to pull your elbows out and think of it like that is like your bubble also and you will see my posture is beginning to look more and more like how the professional piano players are.
