I guess I sort of expected that a video titled "How to change the toilet float valve" would have more instruction than "Replace this with this"...

This should be titled "Why to change to a Float Valve" rather than "How" since it doesn't say anything about How and just says that you might want to for the purpose of saving space...

Male Speaker: This is Handymantips.co.uk you may want at some point want to replace this side from here, in placement of a ball or ball cord, and the first mechanism, because some of these systems come very small and compact these days. So you are not going to have room to put whole this in it, and if you got an own system like that and you wanted to renew it what you could do that's what we call flow master type of system. Now what this does is lift up the up one lifts up and replace this ball cork here. So it is no need for all this inside your system you can actually have this and this will do the job of all this unit here. And this more compact and you can actually fit into half the size of this system here. Because most of them are pretty much smaller than this but half of the size of this nowadays, so if you wanted to upgrade to a modern system the straight the unit here out and replace it with this.
