Wow, some more useless advice from this guy, you don't put any sealant on the threads of compression joints, as that's not what makes the seal, it's the olive on the pipe that makes the seal, and some paste can be used around that (although I wouldn't touch Boss Green with a bargepole, hideous stuff and not approved for use on potable water installations either)

Male Speaker: This is handymantips.co.uk traditionally PTFE tape is normally used, is normally used to get a better tight as seal around cap nuts and joints. Method of doing that is to wrap the tape, around the frit or whatever it is you are joining, and then screw the other end and the tape makes that water tight joint, they don't have to use tape you can also use what they call boss super green with PTFE so that PTFE is exactly the same as that. You put that on your frits just squeeze that on the frits and then do the nut up, in the same way you would have done with the PTFE tape. And nut also makes it water tight, so what they use in PTFE tape preventative method they all have the same results, they designed to give you a water tight fit around your frits.
