The name "grenadine" ; comes from the French word grenade meaning pomegranate, as grenadine was originally prepared from pomegranate juice, cherry juice, and sugar. The food industry, however, has widely replaced grenadine fruit bases with artificial ingredients and is now formulated entirely out of a high-fructose corn syrup base.

Pomagranite Martini Cocktail Drink Recipe

This drink is called a Pomegranate Martini, it is one of the variations of a standard martini it is kind a like I do not know a sweeter version of the martini. There is hundred out there but this is one of the more popular ones so I am going to show you how to shake the drink. We are going to use ice in our mixing cup, our recipe calls for two ounces of our vodka then what we are going to use is half ounce of grenadine syrup and the reason why we are using grenadine syrup is because grenadine syrup is made from pomegranate and sugar. Now some places might use a pomegranate flavored vodka and put a little grenadine in there. Some places might use a little dash of fresh pomegranate juice. So it really varies a little bit, it just depends what you like. I am trying to show you one of the simpler ways to make it, all right. We are going to serve it in a stem cocktail glass. This glass is already chilled out so I do not have to chill it and I am going to shake my drink up to get it nice and cold. Give it a little snap, all right put this down here and with this I think maybe we will give them a little cherry garnishing, here we have one our sweetened kind of candy cherries and put it right in there.
