From time to time, you may have the need around your home to put together two pieces of metal to mechanically fasten them. For example, it is your home like mine, I have up there in the corner a metal gutter, it is aluminum and the cot is actually pop riveted or attached to the gutter. To pop rivet two pieces of metal together, you need just a few simple tools. I have the actual pop rivet tools and the tools come with some very cool 1/8 inch diameter drill bits that fit into a standard drill. I am going to pop rivet these two pieces of metal together and to hold them in place, I am going to use a simple clamp just to go ahead and lock them and hold them together exactly where I want them.
You have to drill a 1/8 inch diameter hole that the rivet passes through. This is the actual pop rivet itself and here is how it works. Notice this long shaft that looks just like the nail and it really is because it has a large head back here. As you squeeze the handles of the tool, it pulls that shaft through and mushrooms are enlarges this end of the pop rivet. This pop rivet tools are fantastic. it is something you should have around your home. You never know when you might need one.
And let me tell you, I understand that in this day and age, have been politically correct that they might be having a mom rivet tool next month.
