I am speaking with a young woman this week and she was really upset because she was trying to lose weight and she confessed, “You know Steve I cannot lose weight because I love carbohydrates.” And I said, “Hey you are not different from anybody else.” Who does not pasta or fresh bread or desserts? It is just the way we are. But I ask her, I said, “When you go out to eat and you have a steak, it is about the size of the back of your hand.” She said, “Yah, you are right.” I said that, “When you go out and have a plate of spaghetti, a plate of spaghetti, it is about five to six times that size.” She said, “Yah, you are right.”
I said, “You probably eat most of it don’t you?” She said, “Yes I do.” I said, “With that steak, you might eat some of it and take some of it at home.” She goes, “Yah.”
So the advice I am going to give her is the same advice I am going to give you. Work on controlling your portions. Something carbohydrates that make you fat. It is the excess carbohydrates that make you fat. If you have a plate of spaghetti this big, it would not put any weight on you. You see, people have to remember that it is not the fats, the proteins, or the carbohydrates or the combinations of those three that make you fat. It is still the total number of calories at the end of the day that makes you fat. So if you know what to eat just eat the same things, but just make your portions that much small. That will cause weight loss. Love your body.
