Okay Debbie this is just a quick Camtasia studio video recording. So this ought to give you a good visual on what I do with the some of my post processing on my images.
So on to your morning glory shot here. I think it’s a great shot. It’s very clear very good detail. I just immediately noticed that this photo I think can really pop with a few extra steps that I usually perform on a lot of my photos in Photoshop.
So without further ado, let’s bring up Photoshop and download your file. It’s not a high risk files so some of the data. It won’t turn out as good as if I had it a full data file, but at least to get the point here, so I unload up Photoshop.
First thing I do with the background as I duplicate it by dragging it on a new layer. Make a different background then I create a layer masks. I want to go details on layer masks if hopefully you know when you use a layer mask, but they're very powerful and not hard to learn. So I select the actual photo on that layer. I go to a filter and DCE tools three times and exit on that posts in my tutorial, their website, so how I recommend this filter. It’s an HDR filter, but it’s very powerful because you can tune it down. And you don’t get any HDR effect at all. Of course this is a default very noisy, very grainy. I take the surface bring this up to about 93 then I go to dramatic light strength about one third level. Then I go to dramatic light radius to about one quarter level. And vivid colors I usually pump up to about 13 or 14 until 15 in this case.
Brightness I have to tone down a lot of time to about eight to nine or at 8.9 or 9. Go ahead process that. Okay, it really popped the photo think about this filter though is it adds a lot of noise, a lot of grain. So that being said, what I do then is I select my mask and paint brush and I paint away that filter, the background and it brings back your original quality or original noise which is much less than the filter imply and lead the subject alone and she can see me because there's so much detail on the subject. The grain actually gives it detail, so that’s okay. So I'm going to do this really quick all right spent a lot more time all around the flower, but you don’t have to use a soft brush I’m using an artist okay.
Next thing I do is I duplicate that layer I use a short cut control alt and shift E, that duplicates the layer. Next thing I do is I pull out my filter again go sharpen and I can do an unsharp mask. Radius of about one two if it’s a very large resolution lines, I could go up three sometimes about 37% right click okay. Put that sharp masks sharpen this up.
The last filter I do for saving it is Noise Ninja by Picture Code. In my personal opinion the best noise-reduction filter for Photoshop, period. I just used the default, it’s got a nice profiling algorithm in the default settings, so I just let it do it’s magic there, that’s done.
I highly recommend looking at the before and after in that tool preview for noise, it really does a great job. Last thing file, I'm going to save as full quality JPEG and I’ll upload this and ill put it into one of my site hosted, show you the copy, ill call it Plexi Flower and we’re done.
