Pregnancy and Massage

Melissa: Hi! My name is Melissa I am from New Jersey, and I am wondering if it is safe to get massage during the pregnancy?

Stephen Scott: That's a really good question Melissa, yes I would say it's fine to have a massage during pregnancy. A lot of the aches, and pains that occur with pregnancy are due to postural changes, as the pregnancy is getting bigger, and so you get a lot of backaches, you can get a lot of cramps in the legs and so a massage is one way helping to relieve some of that. So yes it's a great way of relieving those aches and pains.

One thing I would suggest is finding a massage therapist that is comfortable in dealing with the women who are pregnant and so they are comfortable with giving massages and that, so you may want to call ahead and find someone who has those qualifications and interest.
