Pregnancy and Sex Drive

Francisco: Hello my name is Francisco and I am from Houston, Texas. And I was just wondering is it safe to have sex during pregnancy?

Laurie Zephyrin: Francisco that's a fantastic question, many couples many women come to me in my office and ask that same question. Typically it is safe to have sex during pregnancy. Some times there can be health problems during the pregnancy where it may not be safe. For example if early in the pregnancy there might be some bleeding, or some cramping. There are situations when sex may not be advised. So if there any health problems talk to your doctor. Also remember that during pregnancy a women's sex drive may change, also a man's sex drive may change it may increase or decease. So the most important driving factor is, is the women comfortable during the pregnancy to have sex, because of the changes in her body that occur during pregnancy and also taking into account the sex drive of the couple.
