Prepare an Onion in Chinese cooking - Part 2
Speaker: Here is the onion that we are going to show you how to cut a half inch square. I am assuming that you have removed the two ends as we did in the previous segments, and once you do that, we are going to then cut this onion in half, and then to calculate the half inch square and taking the onions that we have here. I would say cut this piece in third and we are pretty much getting the dimension of half inch we need. Okay, somewhere here, and then, the other way to look of course is to calculate from the bottom of your onion here, and then half inch at the top area, and I would say, and this is what we are talking about half inch square, okay, half inch, half inch -- of course the thickness we can't control, so whatever thickness of the onion is, and let me just show you one more, a one smaller of course, let's go a little bit smaller and again, let's say a quarter inch or so, rather than half inch, and we will just look at the onions that we have here, just divide this piece in half and then from each half we divide that into half and then on the last piece that we have to half. If you kind of visualizing that dimension from here to here is a quarter inch and then of course a quarter inch going into this direction here and you would then get what we call a quarter inch squares. Okay, so there is where we are.
