Preparing Your Candy Buffet for Travel

Hi, this is Kristen from I do wedding essentials and we are talking about how to create a candy buffet. Right now were going to talk about prepping the containers and getting everything ready for travel. Basically what I do before every buffet is I wash each container really good outside and in with soapy warm water. Dry it thoroughly, be careful, some containers have lips on them that water can kind of creep in and stay in there, so make sure everything is completely dry. And then I just cover everything with plastic wrap. You want to make sure it stays nice and clean. You put all of the effort into washing it, you don’t want any sand or dirt to get in there.

So once I put a plastic wrap on everything, I just pile it on boxes or in like a large plastic tote and wrap everything with bubbles or some type of plastic wrap and then its good to go. You also don’t forget to wash any scoops or tongs that you’re going to be using. Its important that this are clean too and also I packed all of the candy into boxes or totes and just remember usually its great when you buy things locally, usually get stuff in bulk packaging. And I save a lot of the bulk packaging so that after the buffet you have stuff to put things in, so when you’re unpacking don’t just throw everything away. You want to keep stuff because chances are you’re not going to go through six pounds of jellybeans, so keep lots of plastic bags. Bring a bunch of freezer, the large zip lock type bags so you can put extra candy in those and pretty much that’s it. Make sure if you have any chocolate candy, you don’t leave it sitting in your car for a long time and crank up the AC because anything that’s chocolate will melt very quickly in the summer months.
