It’s hard to imagine how different this land looked 150 years ago. Far-flung tribes of Plains Indians and wagon trains carrying settlers gazed out across an endless sea of tall prairie grass. It created the rich soil that grows our crops today. Only a fraction of the great American prairie remains.
