Pro Tools: How to Pitch Shift Audio
In this video we’re going to show you how to use the Pitch Shift plug in Pro Tools eight. It’s really simple. There are many different things you can do in it, check it out.
To open up the pitch shift plug in Pro tools is quite simple. Just go over to the audio switch, scroll down the pitch shift, draw over, scroll down on pitch shift again, click and here you are. The pitch shift plug in Pro Tools, this is really great for taking an instrument track or a vocal track that can matter tune and put it back in the key or just to change the overall tone out if you have a track and you can use this for both function.
So, first what you need to do is make sure that you have slotted region that you want this plug into effect. It can be the whole region or drums so to peak part of the region, that’s up to you. Since this is in very large regions, select the whole vocal track and first remember there are two different sections in here. The one that works more with the keys then over here which is more like coarse, ratio, cross fade, what not.
So the level should affect how loud, these levels here whereas the gain affects how loud the rest of these are in the plug in. So first, let’s just listen to the vocal track before it’s affected.
[Demonstration]
Alright and so now let’s just bring my voice down this a little bit, slip the region, let it process. Now, let’s listen.
[Demonstration]
You see it’s brought down but not too much. It can also bring you down in keys like I said before. Right now, it’s at A4. Let’s bring it down to F#3. Swipe the region again, it process, you’re going to have to do that every time just make sure you remember that.
[Demonstration]
Se a bit more maybe a bit too much and just simple I’ll bring it back up but don’t worry too much about having it selected because as you see there is this command or click process without selecting it. This is in the pop up, no audio selected so just click the region process.
[Demonstration]
You can also get really fun to sound to turn the vocals into a little bit of sound effect too if you will. Then bring that back up more and turn that and click on the region. Now as you can tell, it can be a lot of fun but it can also be a very helpful tool, if one word in your vocal track comes out of key just like that one word, use the pitch of plug in and we’re all good to go.
