Product Review - Case Logic Computer Cases

Mario Armstrong: Hey! It’s Mario Armstrong, SBTV.com at the International 2009 Consumer Electronic show in Vegas and right now we stopped because, you know we are a fashion forward show and I try to be a fashion forward host. So as small business owners, when you're out and about, you're always thinking about your brand, your look and how your style, well, do you take it all the way down to how you carry your technology. Is it stylish when you leave the office? If it isn’t, now you'll learn how you can be stylish. Dana is going to help us out here. Dana Blanchard from Case Logic. Dana Blanchard: Absolutely. Thanks for having us here. Mario Armstrong: Yes, likewise for having us here as well. I'm holding one of the cool cases that I actually like. Because I have a Mac and this is a special case though that’s not just cool fashion it has really more applications for when I'm traveling on a plane and how so? Dana Blanchard: This case is actually TSA security friendly so you may know that and your viewers may know that a couple of months ago the TSA put in some new regulations in place so you don’t have to take your laptop out of your bag when you go through security. So we have designed a whole line of bags that you could actually use with that feature. So you can put them through security without taking them out of the bag. Get your laptop at the end of the security line and then just go on to your flight. Mario Armstrong: Whoa! That is–how many of you small business owners travel and it’s a traveling–that is a nightmare. Dana Blanchard: How many of you small business owners forget your laptop at the end of the security line have forgotten and had to go back and get it. Mario Armstrong: More importantly, that’s right. You know what, so its one of those things where it’s like, I've got to take off my shoes, I've got to take off my coat. Oh, and I have to unzip my laptop, take the laptop out, put it on its own bin. So you're telling me those days are over with the case on. Dana Blanchard: Absolutely, there's a number of bags that do fit the regulations that they’ve put in place and actually one of the reasons that they’ve put it in place was that they were getting a lot of claims for broken laptops from owners of the laptops because they take it out of their bag, they'd slip, it would fall on the ground or whatever. So the TSA was getting a lot of claims, a lot of aggravated customers, so they’ve put these new regulations in place and then we were able to react to the whole line of products that provided great solutions for this. Mario Armstrong: Ok now, this is just for the laptop but I know you're on the floor here, we have some other–we have different luggage. Dana Blanchard: Yeah, we actually have a whole–we have multiple lines of luggage with varying styles and feature sets just to meet the different needs of the consumers out in the market place. You know, depending upon the amount of days that you're traveling for business and the amount of stuff that you carry with them. A number of our bags actually have laptop storage integrated into them so, you know, for instance, one of this over here on the floor is small so that’s it cabin, it'll fit in the carry-on overhead and it has laptop storage integrated into it so you can put your laptop and all the other things that you need for your business in the bag. Have it with you. You don’t have to check the bag. You don’t have to worry about losing stuff, except your accessories, they're all in one place and easy to access. Mario Armstrong: Yeah, that’s cool. So you can put your clothes and your devices in the bag and carry it on the plane. Dana Blanchard: Absolutely. Mario Armstrong: Yeah! That’s what small business owners need. You know, be flexible and be quick and off their planes. And lastly you have other cases as well for other devices, iGPS devices– Dana Blanchard: We have cases for a whole range of products, you know, when people travel, you don’t just travel with your laptop and things for work. You're bringing your iPod with you so that you can listen to music and relax when you have some downtime. You're bringing a camera with you often times whether you're taking pictures for fun or for work. You're bringing your cellphone obviously, your BlackBerry,, all your communications devices so on and so forth. So we’re one of the very, very brands out there that have products that fit all of those different pieces of hardware that people are traveling with. Mario Armstrong: Yeah! Like the whole mobile lifestyle. Dana Blanchard: The whole mobile lifestyle is covered. So a couple of these products that we have here are camera bags, this is actually a case, we are one of the first people to market with a case for external hard drives and so a lot of people are using external hard drives for them to backup and security. Mario Armstrong: And I highly recommend this, number one, small business owners, make sure you are constantly backing up your data and if you have an external hard drive, protect it, protect it with a case. It’s a great investment. Dana Blanchard: Absolutely and a lot of people are bringing them with them not only for data backup and security but also if they have extra storage needs and so on and so forth. You can just bolt that under the laptop, its super easy, plug and play with USB accessories. Mario Armstrong: Now, are all of these things already available, the case logic? Dana Blanchard: Everything that we’re showing at the show is either on the market or will be introduced, you know, with the CES show and then shipping shortly thereafter, so yes. Mario Armstrong: Okay. Last question for you, can you get this kind of like personalized for your business? Or are there are ways that you can put on a logo or branding on the cases? Dana Blanchard: Yes you can. We actually do have a partnership with a company that does provide that service and so the best way to do that if they are interested is that they can go on our website, we have a link on there that people can click, they will give you the information for the contacts that they should go through and you know, there's a process and some minimums and all that but absolutely we do some customization.
