Hi guys, it’s Sean the Silver Fox and for those of you who view the up and regular
viewers to my video channel you know that I like to experiment with different types of kit and most stuff I make and stuff that’s commercially available, and I was asked by Heinnie Haynes and he showed me this magnesium block fire steel block shade in black.
And I’ve never use one before so I had it for me for a worn out. Many experiments you know I did this stuff for 10 days and I’m just quite impress of it. It’s also a very good value for money. It’s very cheap and basically we have here a block of magnesium in the bottom here and then there’s a built-in ferroceum right at the top.
And my first initial thought is the ferroceum rod probably been they’ll be larger I think because you might be running out of porcelain rod before you run out of magnesium but that’s still going to be a long time down the line.
Now, basically what we need to do with the magnesium rod is you need to cleat the magnesium shave on something so this is a small piece of plywood I just found lying around, but you could use a lead of a presider cup and so it’s been lead something like that and you know you need to do then is you just shave the magnesium of the back and turn if you can get it into a pile.
Now, what I’ve learned with the experience from plying with this is you do need to collect and gather quite a large pile. I need to have you thin the radios for you to have a good bundle of timbre to put this into, so there is your magnesium collected and then just put your spark to it anywhere you go.
Now, I just set the flare off is very quick it does loose very long which you’re going to have a very tight or a very fine timber bundle next to it over it to go, so stuff like I’ve
experiment too like I explained to you. These are cocktail heads are excellent and crumble fungus will go if you get the powder on top of it and 3:33 mostly but I need some very fine and very dry.
So, it’s something I’m very impressed with and I’ve never use one before up until recently but I find it excellent, so thanks guys to show in the Silver Fox and I told you so.
Right, so what I’m going to do now is demonstrate how to get this magnesium as you have to take it tender and light, so again we’re just going to collect our shavings. I need some part of it. The most important tip I can give you stones. Stones can pound your magnesium. It’s very cheap and you’ve got an awful lot there. You’ll go a long, long way.
So that would be too tight with it. And you know what when you use a timber I’m using of these out of bits paper bits from the Himalayan paper of birch tree. It’s going to put out right next to it, and it will strike it there you go. Use a bit of this header on top there you can see while I’m making the fire.
So, thanks guys that’s my demonstration of the magnesium fire block and these are available online from Heinnie Haynes and their website is www.heinnie.com. And it’s an excellent fire starter kit. It’s really impressive. It really impressed how simple it’s use. Yes, it takes a little bit longer than a pair of same rod but I found this to be far more successful and with a single strike than a pair of same rod, so this is something I'm going to carry on my purse in the future and I’m really impressed with it, so thanks guys. I told you so.
