Mario Armstrong: Hey! It’s Mario Armstrong, International CES 2009. We’re just floating around on the showroom floor here and hanging out in the Toshiba booth. Oh, look, there's a lot of laptops so lets go and check out some of the new laptops and see what they have for small business owners. Alright, now I talked to you a little bit earlier, Fady right?
Fady Abourjeily: Yes.
Mario Armstrong: Good to meet you. I'm Mario.
Fady Abourjeily: Good to meet you.
Mario Armstrong: We’re with sbtv.com. I'm just kind of jumping in on you here but I heard a lot about this particular laptop that it has like embedded Wi-Fi and WiMAX technology in it?
Fady Abourjeily: That’s correct.
Mario Armstrong: So you get your 4G, super fast speeds while you're out and about. But its also very small designed here. Lets talk a little bit about some of the features of this particular laptop.
Fady Abourjeily: Sure. This is a Toshiba lightest and ultra portable laptop. It’s a full powered PC. It has got a 12 inch, 12.1 inch screen. It has a full power processor, ultra low voltage. Its is 3gig memory.
Mario Armstrong: 3gig RAMS in here.
Fady Abourjeily: 3gig RAM. It comes standard 3gig RAM.
Mario Armstrong: So how much hard drive space?
Fady Abourjeily: 160 Gig of a hard drive.
Mario Armstrong: Oh! Where?
Fady Abourjeily: Yes. And the nice thing about it, its only 2.4 with that hard drive so if you–
Mario Armstrong: 2.4 pounds.
Fady Abourjeily: Pounds, correct.
Mario Armstrong: Well, this is light.
Fady Abourjeily: Yes.
Mario Armstrong: Oh! Yeah! Easy to carry, very easy to carry.
Fady Abourjeily: So there is also an adoption of a solid state drive, if you do that, then even–it'll get lighter than 2.4.
Mario Armstrong: Yeah! No, I mean, mobility is key.
Fady Abourjeily: Right.
Mario Armstrong: Small business owners and entrepreneurs need to have that mobility. This is very light. Is this about an inch thick when its closed or less?
Fady Abourjeily: This is less than inch thick.
Mario Armstrong: Less than an inch thick.
Fady Abourjeily: It’s about .77.
Mario Armstrong: Wow! Look how thin that is.
Fady Abourjeily: And the nice thing about it, even with it, it has an optical, full optical drive so you can actually play a DVD on there, right there.
Mario Armstrong: So wait, this has an actual drive here?
Fady Abourjeily: Yeah! There you go.
Mario Armstrong: Oh! My gosh! This thing is thinner than my Notebook.
Fady Abourjeily: Yes.
Mario Armstrong: It’s thinner than my Notebook. That’s incredible. What's the price point on this about?
Fady Abourjeily: This particular model starts at 2099 with the WiMAX, there is about a hundred dollar up lift, 2149 and then if you add more features to it, of course it goes up.
Mario Armstrong: Okay. And Bluetooth enabled as well.
Fady Abourjeily: Bluetooth, latest Bluetooth, 2.1 EDR with enhanced data rate.
Mario Armstrong: And what I–one of the things that annoys me the most while we’re out and about with our laptops is the screen.
Fady Abourjeily: Yes.
Mario Armstrong: The screen, this particular screen has a trans-reflective screen.
Fady Abourjeily: That’s correct.
Mario Armstrong: So, how does–what does that mean for them to know?
Fady Abourjeily: So, lets say you're working indoors, and–
Mario Armstrong: Okay. You're working inside.
Fady Abourjeily: And inside and it’s a gorgeous weather out there and it is very sunny and you want to walk out and you know how it is, sometimes when you walk out the sun hits the screen and you have–
Mario Armstrong: Can’t see anything.
Fady Abourjeily: You can’t see anything. So with the push of a button, you can turn off that screen and that doesn’t mean that you wont see anything in the day light, in a full day light, you'll be able to look at a the screen as if you're looking at it indoor. So that’s why we call it indoor-outdoor screen.
Mario Armstrong: That’s impressive.
Fady Abourjeily: And its one of the features that Toshiba offers on this particular laptop.
Mario Armstrong: And then one of the other features that you guys have is called the EasyGuard Technology.
Fady Abourjeily: That’s correct.
Mario Armstrong: And we’re going to swing over here because look at this; we have water spilling on a laptop. Right here, Toshiba laptop and so this is EasyGuard technology and this is a spill resistant feature of this technology. So are you café hopping, latte drinking, no worry about spilling your coffee on this particular laptop with this EasyGuard technology because your keyboard will not be wet. The insides are protected and covered, right?
Fady Abourjeily: Yes. And the idea here is to really–this, we’re exaggerating this but our technology allows you to give you enough time to shut down, to save your data which is the most important part.
Mario Armstrong: Absolutely.
Fady Abourjeily: Lets say, if you're working on something important and you accidentally spill something on your keyboard, it gives you enough time to shut down or save the data, shut it down and we do recommend even though nothing happens with it, we do recommend that you have it checked and then looked at before you turn it back on.
Mario Armstrong: But the point is, you're preparing people for emergency situations.
Fady Abourjeily: Absolutely. Yes. And it is–it will protect it but of course, we’re not recommending you go in the shower with it.
Mario Armstrong: No. If any of you small business owners and on sbtv and entrepreneurs start taking showers with your devices, call me, you need some help. But this is really cool. I’ll just going to put my hand here so you could just–oh, I'm sorry, I just want to make sure it was–
Male: I want you to get electrified.
Mario Armstrong: Oh! Will I get electrified? No, I was just kidding. Its real water, that’s real water.
Fady Abourjeily: It’s okay.
Mario Armstrong: Its only real water here. At the Toshiba booth, lots of exciting technology. Thank you so much Fady.
Fady Abourjeily: Thank you very much.
Mario Armstrong: I appreciate the time. Okay. Still more to come at the International 2009 CES, I'm your sbtv technology guru, Mario Armstrong. We’ll be back, don’t go anywhere.
