Alex Fees: Alright, we’re in the iGo booth here at the Consumer Electronics Show and joining me here now is Brandy Lawson and iGo spokesperson. Brandy is telling me that iGo is all about charging things. Is that right Brandy?
Brandy Lawson: Yes. We’re a multi device charging company. We've been doing this for about six years and we do tips and chargers, so you can have one charger that charges all your devices.
Alex Fees: Okay. Brandy tells me that iGo is out off Scottsdale, Arizona.
Brandy Lawson: Scottsdale, Arizona.
Alex Fees: And iGo has some environmentally friendly products. She’s going to talk to us about those right now. Brandy, what is this?
Brandy Lawson: Since we are a charging company, we think it’s really important that power be used really well. The chargers you leave plugged into your wall right now are wasting energy even when they're not doing anything. So we’ve developed iGo green technology.
Alex Fees: So this is a charger.
Brandy Lawson: This is a laptop charger and uses our tip technology and it’s got iGo green built in. Right now, you see this light is flashing. That means that the charger is off. It’s not drawing any power from the wall. Every once and a while it will wake up to see if something gets plugged in or on his power, if so, it will stay on and power it. As soon as it’s done it will shut off again. It saves 80% of the standby power that would otherwise be wasted by other chargers.
Alex Fees: Okay. And Brandy this is good because there is sort of a power drain on a lot of products even when you don’t have them turned on, correct?
Brandy Lawson: That’s true. When you leave your charger plugged into the wall, even when it’s not doing anything, its sucking power, that’s kind of why they called it vampire power and wasting it away. A standard laptop charger that meets energy stars still draws 500 milliwatts of standby power. Our product eliminates that. It doesn’t eliminate it a 100% because this still needs to know when things are going to be needing power. But it turns off and it saves 80%.
Alex Fees: Okay. Brandy, what's this called?
Brandy Lawson: This is our iGo laptop charger with iGo green technology.
Alex Fees: How much?
Brandy Lawson: It'll be–when it starts to come into the market at 119.99.
Alex Fees: And you said sometime of summer of ’09.
Brandy Lawson: Summer of ’09.
Alex Fees: Moving down the line, we have this–Brandy, how do you characterize this? This is designed to replace a power strip, is that right?
Brandy Lawson: Right. So this is our iGO, I like to call it our power tower.
Alex Fees: Power tower.
Brandy Lawson: We think iGo green technology is a great way to go and we have it on a laptop charger but we also want to make sure you can use it for the other devices in your home. So we've put in this power strip. You can see here are two green lights, they work just the same way, when it turns off, the lights starts blinking and you know it’s off. And it turns on every once and a while to see if something needs power. And then if not, it shuts off otherwise it stays on and powers what's there. What's unique about this is–
Alex Fees: Is the backside, right?
Brandy Lawson: The backside, so you see it’s got 8 ports in total, the top two–the top four are all --, so that’s where your device chargers are plugged in and then the bottom four are always on. You can use this on your counter or on your home office, plug in your clock or your coffee maker or anything else that would require power all the time that you would enough so it want to turn off.
Alex Fees: Okay. Good deal. Brandy, how much does the power tower, is that right?
Brandy Lawson: The power tower.
Alex Fees: How much does it go for?
Brandy Lawson: We expect it to come to market at about 69.99. The other bonus feature it has is that it has two USB ports here so it can advantage of our tip technology to charge your devices in addition to all the other separate plugs in.
Alex Fees: Okay! 70 bucks, when is the tower of power, power tower available?
Brandy Lawson: We’re expecting it to be also be available this summer.
Alex Fees: Summer of ’09.
Brandy Lawson: Yes.
Alex Fees: Brandy, I'm detecting a website for more information.
Brandy Lawson: For more information, iGo.com is your place to go. It’s got all of our compatibility and all of our tips. You can buy all of our products and all the tips, the charging device is there.
Alex Fees: Alright. Good deal. Brandy, thank you very much.
