Product Review - Fallkniven F1
Hi guys it’s Shaun from Silver Fox Bushcraft and in this video I’m going to do a review of the Fallkniven F1. Now I brought this knife with me and open out using it for four days and before our review it ends and report back on you on the features of this knife. I want it to test it first and make sure always happy with the knife and to give you a fair review.
So first things first we start with the shade it comes with a lot of shade you get a choice over led the sheath or a plastic sheath. I chose the leather sheath and I’m quite please if it’s gone to this and it’s quite a nice sheath and you got a nice secured large bare leaf on a back it is secured by four of its and you got a single roller stitching coming up the front and it‘s got a proper itself a steadfast knot or rub it to secure it.
It has a double wealth when it comes to the center here so it’s a good study sheath as you saw on the top I have a secure faucet on the top to secure that knife in place but it doesn’t in there, the knife is still really secured but the friction sheath alone. So you don’t really need this pack you could actually cut this piece of if you wish and relied purely on that friction for it. And it’s not something I’ll do. I’ll keep that on there as a security feature.
So now we come to the knife. All right the Fallkniven F1 this is a laminated stainless steel blade. It’s the VG10 it’s what they call it. So I have stainless steel on the outside and it has fingers of cold steel on this sense to cool. What this makes is an extremely sharp knife but an incredibly strong knife and it’s lovely housing edge but I hadn’t touch this edge up since I took out and it’s still extremely sharp and I’m pretty sure let’s all have a look.
All right it’s not quite or is just about shaving it’s not quite shaving and sharp anymore but it is still a fairly sharp knife. But I’ve set this out and made for four days I haven’t touch of the blade I’ve haven’t cleaned the blade and through Birch ash oak, willow, autumn carbon with it. I’ve even cut dinner with it. So I’ve used for everything. The technical side of this play the specs on it let’s have a look. It’s 8 ½ inches over all and you have a just under a 4 inch cut an edge. It has a rubberized handle and it’s a full tank knife you can see the tank coming about there that tank is going to go to back out she’s proud of the handle which actually means you got a panel on the back there which has been ready use for that so I use it quite a bit. So as a good little feature on this knife, it has a handle at home.
This rubberized handle gives you an extremely sure grip and it’s bit and what you’re doing if it gets wet you still going to grip it and it is covering blood is still going to grip. I’ve been really impress with this knife. Now the knife was initially designed for military years, for pilots and for the Swedish army. So they need a knife it was barely flat which this is and so a part has lip and really nice and bulk it for bulky item but it makes it really comfortable. It’s really a good a knife.
Personally, I would like to handle which is slightly more rounded but I can’t really say that’s a focus on the knife and it just such a strong versatile knife. It’s got loving knife profile on the edge and let’s have a look. It’s a very, very, very slight combat grind it’s not exactly as candy grind and very, very slightly convex but it gives a much stronger edge. So with all no guys I’m really pace with this knife. Now what we’re trying to do is just to zoom in for him and zoom in right and open your knife to the camera. Zoom in nice and close and at that if you can see this line it runs down here about half a centimeter from the blade that is the lamination.
So this part that you can see is the sinus stove and this inner part is the inner core which where you get a cut in each from. I’d recommend this knives kind of my heart to anybody is a really strong if you want to take one knife out is going to last you, it’s not too big and it is going to fail on you, you really can’t go wrong with this and everytime it’s got given this knife to its and stood up for note from the toes back in it is so strong you can bat in it to anything and it’s just an awesome little knife. So if you’re interested in pursuing one of this they are available online at heinnie hanes and their website is www.heinnie.com. Thanks guys see you next video.
Show this F1 we’re going to back them through a slash and now the PC just so it goes through a fairly and effort is an incredibly strong knife and I’ve never been a big fun of back in the tips and but I just gained in the four days I’ve using this is not okay so much confidence with it and I’ve really put it first for the spaces. I thought if I’m going to do a poker review and a knife and I put a knife it’s going to stand up for the job. If I’m going to put my name to it a toe a trickly a knife I know it’s going to last and I lock of setting apart. I’m not into survival, I do not consider a knife to be a weapon. It is just not something it is any for if I need a knife for and it’s not where I come from. To me a knife is a took and will always be a tool.
So if I want a tool I won’t want it’s going to survive and it’s going to last. Now as I said it showed in the video this has lost its right of edge but it’s just cutting through this as you look but this is going to be a total with this, I mean this fine shave and easy this is not an effort and fold and I can put some take ones and look at in big cuts going in, lots of fine ones and it’s just an incredible knife and when it come for the manufacturer. This kind with a raises edge and seriously I mean you can see them fairly broad on my arm there. We start to put them back but it did come with the raises edge. Which is somewhat I was really impress with the lot of knife when you buy them specially manufactured knife. Custom knives always come raise its edge. Manufacture knives come always but I have not at the top of this edge I’ve sold from the day I bought it.
So now, so I’m going back home now it is the end of my four days away and it does need finishing up, it doesn’t need an edge from there but not a lot if I run across the back of my DC4 sharpen this time if I run across the back of this DC4 when the instrument try for a few times I’m pretty sure I’ll put each back home that. So I tell you what I got DC4 in my back, we try it now let’s just see how quick it takes.
Okay so this is DC4, Fallkniven DC4. This sharpen this time what you get, you get a time inside and get ceramic side. The damn inside is mafia coarse grind in and I would recommend it a need on this edge. All right all we need to do is a few real light strokes on this. There we go so we now got, it’s not perfect yet but another few minutes with this diamond ceramic edge and we’ll let that edge back on there. And I have to say for four days of hard use to give five minute on a ceramic stone that’s a really good pay back. So there you go guys the Fallkniven F1 on a DC4 sharpening stone. Make a wonderful pack.
