Proper Hand Posture – Nate Bosch
Hi, I’m Nate Bosch with Pianolessons.com and today we’re going to talk about proper
hand posture on the piano. What you going to do first is make sure that your wrist are
level with the piano, not down too low or up too high. And when you press the keys
down you don’t want to flick your fingers, you want to just press them down straight,
straight and even strength down to the key. Look at this right here it’s nice and level, now
If you go too low it makes it difficult to play and too high you start bumping into the
black keys like that. So, there you have it, proper posture. Now, you want to number the
fingers on our hands we have your thumbs are number one, the index fingers are number
two, middle finger number three, the ring finger, fourth finger number, and then the pinky
is number five. So we have one, two, three, four, and five. So let’s review, leveled wrists,
no flicking of the fingers, and there you have some basic tips on hand technique on the
piano.
