Protective Gear for Snowboarding
Hi! I'm Michael Bryan of the Telluride Ski and Snowboard School and this is your snowboard tip of the day. Today, we’re going to talk about protective gear for snowboarding. If you’re just starting out, I highly suggest wrist guards, knee pads and butt pads. Wrist guards are great just in case you try to catch yourself in the occasional fall. Knee pads are great because they keep your knees warm and they keep it protected. And, butt pads are great for that occasional backside fall. We suggest helmets for everybody. You only got one nugget. You might as well protect it.
And, for those of you advanced riders out there, there’s pad for you, too. We have spine protectors and there are also shin guards. Spine protectors are great for when you practice in the big maneuvers up in the park. Shin protectors are great for protecting your shins if you do happen to slide up a rail. With all of these equipment including your helmet, you want the fit to be snug but not so tight as to where you’re constricting blood flow up. But, also not so loose to where the pads are moving around and if it does happen, shift a little bit. Make sure you’re moving back towards protecting what tie mans to be protecting.
These pads can be only different between getting up and brushing it off or being carried off by a ski patrol. I'm Michael Bryan from the Telluride Ski and Snowboard School and that was your snowboard tip of the day.
