I am Steve Turano, welcome this episode the body performance. I see a lot of people in the gym, who are guilty of this, especially when they are trying to lose weight.
They give up and left to go, they get on the treadmill, and they are exercising and then they have a 200 or 300 calorie protein shape. Lot of ladies does this, and I want to tell them; listen, you do not need the extra protein and especially those extra calories. It is not going to make any difference; we take in enough protein in American diet, where we do not have to supplement with additional protein shakes and if you are trying to loose weight, that 200 or 300 calorie shape is going to create a problem.
You see, you are trying to eat less, you are watching your dieting, you are watching your snacking, you are watching your drinking and you are watching all of these things, and then you go to the gym, you exercise, you get on the treadmill and you grab a 300 calorie protein shape, thinking it will benefit you. It is not! It is extra calories.
Now if that is your dinner, that is another story, but you do not need these extra calories from protein shape, especially since you are not even exercising that hard and it really would make any difference whether you exercise or not. I do not take in any protein shapes. I do not need it. I get enough protein in my normal daily diet, but it is the additional calories that will prevent you from loosing weight.
So stop with the protein shakes, especially if you are trying to loose weight.
