Hi! This is Alex and welcome to 10publicspeakingtips.com. This is a yet another free video lesson.
Now, I suggest you practice your speech or your talk on anybody. Seriously, if it's the pet, if the pet dog name is Scrappy, practice your speech. If it's your kids, practice your speech. Get -- if you have these little pockets or little dowels, put your dowels out in annoyance and practice your speech. The more you practice your speech, the more times you practice over any setting or scenario, you will feel a lot more confident in giving it. You may feel like an idiot if you are giving it to your dog, but trust me, it will help along down the line when you are actually out there and you got real people there listening to you. If you practice that a 100 times then you will feel a lot more confident. So practice it at any opportunity. If you are driving in a car, practice it.
What I used to do, when I would give a show or a presentation or a talk, I would voice record myself. Now, these are very inexpensive items, I bought a JNC Voice Recorder and it would cost me like $70, and every time I would give speech, I will record my voice. Now the advantages of doing this, is that you can actually listen to your voice inflection.
Now, if we have all heard the all 97% of the communication as the body language and voice tonality, this is true and only 3% is words. So ideally 90% of your effort should be focused on making sure your voice inflection is confident, making sure your body language is confident, and only 3% on the words or the content.
So that means your voice inflection and the way you talk is equally as important if not -- they are more important than the content you give out. So the more you practice your speech, the more you hear any quirky things you say, if you say I umm or ah a lot. You will notice this when you hear your voice back.
My name is Alex Ryan and if you haven't yet gained instant access to the free 30 minute ODR, head over to 10publicspeakingtips.com. I look forward to speaking to you very soon.
