This next exercise we call it pump drill and you can actually hit balls doing this too. But for now we're just going to use the weighted club. The idea is as you swing away, you get into a good position at the top. As you start to unwind your body you're going to feel the weight moving to your lead side. And notice how that in itself starts to draw the club downward.
So we're going to take the combination of using gravity because I can feel this weight in my hands and starting to unwind my body to bring the club in a position coming down this way. The tendency for most people, what they struggle with is on the way down, they have the tendency to release or cast the club too early. Well this club weighs a whole lot more right here than it does right here. Once again, it goes back to what we spoke about before where you always want to try to swing the club where it's the lightest.
So the pump drill is we're just going to swing up to the top, we're going to go pump, pump, release and just let the weight release as you unwind your body. Things to look for as you swing away, as we're coming down, as we're coming down here, notice the position of the club. It's basically in between our body line and our target line. We haven't thrown it out over here and it's not too far back over here. So we're just going pump, pump, release. Right into a balance.
