Welcome to the Sunday Night Shooters Edition of Common Man Cocktails. Today we’re going to create the Purple Hooter and the reason I thought the Purple Hooter would be a good idea is because I recently get this thing called Chambord. There you go. We used that last Sunday. Two Sundays ago—peanut butter and jelly time. Yeah it was the peanut butter and jelly shooter. And I’d like to at least; for everybody out there is use the ingredients three times at least in that way, if you go out and buy this, you did not just get just one recipe and then go search in the internet’s forum. That’s why I am here. So I want to make sure I use it a couple of times. I’m a spill-it-all-over. That would have been messy.
So we’re going to do ¾ of an ounce of the Chambord which is like a raspberry. It’s unique. It’s a very sweet raspberry liqueur. I don’t know if you could do it through substitution. You can try but just get that. And we’re going to use Double Cross Vodka. This thing is huge. The bottle is so intricate and nice. You even have like a little logo in here. It’s crazy. I think this is about $40.00 for this bottle. You can get whatever vodka you have I happen to have that one for the show, showing it off to let people know it’s out there in the market. We’re going to use a half ounce of cranberry juice. We’re done we are going to put that in, shake it up and pour it into a shot glass. So there you get your shot glass and you can even make more. So we’ll do ¾ of an ounce actually that one’s a half ounce of cranberry juice, ¾ of an ounce of the Chambord. ¾ of an ounce of vodka, that’s your drink looks like a purple hooter to me. Pour in some ice in there. We’ll shake that for a little bit. And try and shake for about 10 minutes, really gets the ice on the drinks. 10 minutes would be a long time that’s how you get caught when somebody goes—10 Seconds or a little longer if you want to and that kind of gets the ice to melt off a little bit and get the ingredients at the right temperature. Let’s give it a try. Shake it up.
If you counted with me, that should’ve been 10 seconds because I did the 1-1,000, 2-1,000 in my head because doing that out loud would be very unprofessional. You could use Mississippi. Are you more of a Mississippi or a 1,000 person? In Mississippi it’s too hard to say, I think I’m going to throw off my timing.
There you go. That is pretty. That’s your Purple Hooter. Besides, it’s got some fizzyness because we just aggressively shook that sucker. It’s very purple, it’s almost like a nice light purple. Normally we usually make it thick or darker purple. Smells like Chambord so if you smell this, you smell this you’re like “Woah! What’s in there.” because this probably has not a lot of scent to it. Let’s just drink it. Good temperature. That’s weird the way the cranberry juice in this work. This is your sweet; this is your bitter and you get both of those playing in your mouth because it hits different parts of your pallet. So your tongue on the edges are like; “woah!” and in the front, there’s a little sweetness and in the back, you get a nice smooth finish which is kind of cool. Vodka plays a silent role in this movie it’s sort of like a silent movie in this shot here. Overall, I think the Vodka really is there just to bring the alcohol. The Chambord is there for the flavor and this kind of counter bounces that flavor with something a little more dynamic, fresh and new and gives you a chance to really explore on your pallet. So there you go. That is the Purple Hooter. I am you host Derrick Schommer. Check us out in EverydayDrinkers.TV or you can follow us on Twitter at Twitter.com/EverydayDrinker.
