Eric: And welcome to another episode of Q and Eric. Hey, wait a minute.
[Music Playing]
And now to the questions, our first question comes from redtail5 and he want to know what camera will give you more bang for your buck. The Canon GL2 or the Panasonic DVX100B. well as many of you already know I use a Canon GL2 and I love it, it is a great camera. It is about $1800.00 but really I would rather have the Panasonic DVX100B, it is a better camera. In my opinion you get more bang for your buck, it is made about $2500 but it has much better manual zoom, shoots in 24P, has built in XLR audio inputs, all things that a Canon GL2 does not have. They are both great cameras, really it is going to come down to how your story is but push comes the shove I would rather shoot with the DVX. Good question.
Eric: Next we have a video question from Nick.
Nick: Bought this but the wire is kind of short, so is there any like extension that you should buy or anyway to make it like longer?
Eric: Alright Nick: congratulations on your new microphone, seems kind of like an obvious enhancer but I am going to give to you anyways, yes you need an extension chord. When I bought mine it was on a kit and had like a 50 foot chord. Basically it is just extension chord, has mini jack, female mini jack on one side male on the other side goes with your camera.
You can get one at any circuit city or best buy or you can get it cheaper online. Next video question is from Mark.
Mark: Hi Indy Mogul, I have a problem here with my cam recorder like right around this part here, it is like a little water drop thing in my lens and like I usually leave it upside down for a little while and it stays up like goes back up, and I usually have to film upside down and flip it on my computer. I have a problem with that and my videos are really weird with that and I can not record and I need a way to fix it.
Eric: Now I talked to Jared about this and he had some great advice. He said go to a divers store or an industrial supply store or probably even easier go online and buy couple packets of desiccant. Basically this is a moisture absorber, anyway take a couple packs of this, put your camera in the desiccant into a plastic bag, a zip lock bag, you want to make sure this is totally sealed because what these little packets are going to do they are going to suck up any moisture around them. So you want them to suck the moisture from your camera, you put it in there, you do not touch you do not do anything just put it somewhere for a couple of days and what you are hoping is that it is just going to suck that little drop off your lens and make it all happy again. So give that a try and if your camera breaks, you can not blame us because I just said you can not. Disclaimer but it should be fine seriously.
Our last question comes from Samthemusicman12 and he want to know how did they do the mouths, the moving mouths in the BFX top animation episode. Great question, basically what I did is draw about four or five different mouth variations like big happy, frown, open wide, open small, I just drew them in photo shop and then copied and pasted them in made this little transparent frames and put them in final cut pro and then basically just cycled through them, added like a motion blur and then motion track those as the style motion head moved.
This was very time consuming, if I was going to do it again I would probably just make those same mouth shapes but physically make them on paper and then swap them out with magnets would work great with the design from the episode as I was animating it. Maybe every couple frames that way when I was done I would be done, I would avoid all this post production work because it was a real B word. But the one real benefit of doing it this way is I had a lot more control after the fact I could change the size of the mouth then just really totally control it. Where if I would have done it physically whatever came out of the end is what I would have been stuck with. There you go.
Okay, so now it is finally time for me to tell you what the hell President of mogul bill is, first I am going to tell you what you get as president and I will let you know how you can be president.
