Eric: Hello friends, and welcome to another thrilling installment of Q and Eric. It is bubble time.
Steve: Only if I can talk with this one, no. Earnestly modeled.
Eric: I want to start off by thanking everyone that sent in their questions. We have got like over, 200 messages on our “Youtube” box alone and we are getting through them, one by one.
Our first question is from Nova E. Fire, and they wrote in wanting to know a little more detail about the ballistics gel. I guess they were a little confused about what happens after you melt it and everything. So I am going to break it down for you.
Mix your water and in Knox gelatin powder. One ounce of powder for every cup of water, refrigerate that for two hours. It is going to get solid, solid like a rock. Take that solid mess out of the refrigerator and put it on the stove. Heat it slowly, slowly like a rock.
Use your candy thermometer when it gets you about a hundred or a 120 degrees. That is when it is done. It should be clear-ish. Then take your hot ballistics gel mix and pour it into whatever mold you want. Whether it would be a fake hand, a little Tupperware thing or anything and then re-chill that for 36 hours and destroy it anyway you want.
William Shilling wants to know what version of Final Cut Pro I use. Version 5.1.4, that is it.
Bret wanted to know how we made a cool quote Star Gate Voice in the squirrel man test film. All I did is just slowdown and girl’s voice. That is it.
Insane Puppy wrote into us on Youtube want to know, how do you replicate a gun shot whole in like a t-shirt. And I think he means not like the gunshot effect just like a whole after the fact.
I would do this by just really ripping it up or maybe drilling a hole through the shirt, take it off before you drill hole in it. I want to get emails about kids with their drill holes in their chest. Also you could use like a marker or even like a lighter and some burn singe around the edges. I do not really think there is anything specific about a gunshot hole. But do not worry, I forwarded your question to 50 Cent and he has not got back to us yet but he is the expert. I mean, I have been only shot eight times.
Russo Fan AWS9 wanted to know what happen to all my old helpers and room mates that used to do the test films. They are dead. They are all dead, but seriously, I just moved to New York and unfortunately, those good friends Mike and Chris had to stay back in California. Mike is doing weekly promos for Channel Frederator. You can see his stuff every week. Right here! and Chris is working on his degree at UC Berkeley. Say good luck to him.
Sanity Source sent in this request.
Sanity Source: Hi! I just wanted to ask everybody where you get your suspense or audio tracks for your movies or like audio for a sad scene.
Eric: We love video request. You are like, a bazillion times more likely to get on the show if you send in a video request. I get most of my sad and suspenseful music from Soundtrack Pro which is great if you have a Mac or you can afford it. But some other great resources is SpinXpress or the Free Sound Project which are free to use as long as your video is not for commercial purposes. And you are in luck because Steve is doing a whole episode of Weekend Extra on sound. Tomorrow, watch it! We love you Steve.
Steve: I love you Eric!
Eric: I love you Steve!
Steve: I love you Eric!
Eric: Yellow Suit Jacket needs a cool fake moustache for his seventies cop detective movie. Fake moustaches are really are actually pretty cheap, but if you want to go super cheap you can just like paint on a little brown moustache, when you see the moustache that I wore in the beat up episode, when I am the news reporter. It is just like brown make up smeared like chocolate pudding above my lips.
Bliss Pitcher shooting on green screen and wants to know where he can find good backgrounds. Flicker is good, SpinXpress is also good for images or you can make your own just setting up a tripod in a cool area. You can even use like a little digital quick snap camera.
All right that is it. Your questions have made it. Another awesome episode of Q and Eric, keep sending them in.
You can email them here –
Or you can call it in here—
And before we go a very important question just for the comments page right down here, which hat should I wear next episode? Hat number one or this one?
The future is in your hands.
