Male1: Welcome to another week of Q and Eric where we answer all of your questions. Muffin Dog asked us how to recreate the effect at when bullets hit the dirt. All you need is a field, some sticks and some dirt. What you need to do is create a little a see saw on the ground where you make a long stick like a popsicle stick and you put a lot of dirt and rocks on one end. And you have the other end sticking up. You set up a bunch of this along the path that your victim is running along and as they run they are going to step on the sticking up ends of these sticks and you are going to see-. This effect is so good that good friend of mine Steven Spielberg even used it in his first film.
Now everybody and their mother has been asking us how make fake swords. Guys we already answered this question before but I will give it to you one more time. Go and buy toy swords and paint them silver. If you want to make them extra shiny you can add a layer of clear coat or varnish. It is October there is Halloween Stores all over the place. Stock up on cheap fake swords. Regardless, the most important part of a fake sword fight is the sound effects. No one is really going to notice if it is wobbling around or it does not look super real as long as you get that really nice [sound effects]. That is the light saver side.
A lot of people have also been asking us about video editing programs, where they can get it for free? How much do they cost and all that business? The two best ones that you can get for cheap are, Final Cut Express if you got a Mac and Adobe Premier Elements if you have got a Windows Machine.
Premier Elements is only $99 and Final Cut Express is only $299. Now that is for the newest versions, you can probably get a version previous for even cheaper. On our website we have some links to free editing programs and we are going to do a run down review of those coming up soon.
Monkey Down One wants us to know about a zombie outfit. He like how we did the Zombie make up. He wants to know about the whole outfit. This is the easiest part, go to Goodwill and buy some cheap old dress clothes. Tear them up, rip it, rub in the dirt, get it wet, leave it outside for a day. And just like that you have got zombie clothes.
Storm Line Pictures asked how we make Backyard Effects from editing to writing and everything else. And this is a really a low budget production just like your videos. I will write them, I will get together with Justin and Steve. We will shoot them, I will usually edit it but Justin edited before and it is really just a group friends. We all met on www.filmfights.com, you should check out our videos, we are on competition right now. It is called Blood Freak, my video is under the name Wally Ville, you should go check it out, vote for it Justin, Steve, Eric.
If you want to challenge us, Steve, Justin and I were submitting every week. It is free to enter twice a month, www.filmfights.com puts up a title, a genre and a time limit and you have to come up with an awesome video within those parameters. The next fight is due on October first, it is called “The Egg” and it is a movie trailer starring an egg.
