In this next rock drum and video lesson, we’re going to thorough some quarter note fills. Now I’m going to put my metronome at 100 beats per minute. So the fills are all just played as quarter notes. So it will be one, two, three, four, one, two, three, and four.
[Demonstration]
Number two moves right down the toms snare tom, tom, tom. So snare high tom, mid tom, low tom.
[Demonstration]
Number three might be a little bit funny. Take a look at the provider sheet music. You can see it starts with the snare and then it goes to the low tom. Now if you are to start the fill through your right hand, you might have to crossover through your left hand. So what you can do is you can just start the fill through your left hand then go to the low tom with your right hand, then high tom, mid tom, and crush with your left or come back to the beat through that.
[Demonstration]
Number four starts with two hits on the floor tom and then two hits on the snare drum. It’s pretty simple one’s you get it. Count out loud if you’re doing it and make sure you’re locking right in with the metronome.
[Demonstration]
Number five is the first quarter note fill which we actually incorporate at base drum. Take a look at the provider sheet music and you can see on beat two, I have the base drum. So let’s start with the snare base, high tom, and mid tom.
[Demonstration]
Number six is actually similar to number two. I’ve just rearranged the notes instead of starting with the snare like number two, we’re going to start with the high tom and end with the snare.
[Demonstration]
All right, I had fun with those quarter note fills. Take them to your kit and have some fun with them.
