Hey, guys. David Risley with DavidRisley.com and today I’m answering another question. This one coming in from Kay Rennie which is Ozzlantis.com. I link to it with a blog post for this video. And Kay is asking basically says you’ve probably seen before this type of question or at least address it after reading your latest post on what it takes to get traffic hard work. Do you believe there’s such a thing as set it and forget it?
Basically she’s asking is there a way to set up a blog with the right things in place and then basically just go away and wait for the money to roll in and she’s asking what might thoughts are. So it might not come as a surprise to you that my thoughts are and frankly bullshit. It didn’t work that way.
The thing about blogging is blogging is a lot of work especially if you’re doing it for money. So you know content needs to be produced both on the paid front and as long as the free front. And somebody got to write it. If it’s not going to be you it’s got to be somebody else.
So this is not a hands-off business to begin. Now in terms of other ways of making money on the internet outside of blogging that might be this way, there are some ways that you can do it but the thing is it takes some work at the outset and then maybe you can enjoy the fruits of your labor later.
For example, you have mentioned auto-responders in here and yes, you can set up an auto-responder to your list, put affiliate offers and maybe offer for your own products in this auto-responder and send that out and it can result in money. However, where is the list coming from? You got to build it from somewhere and if you think you’re going to go out and buy one. Hell no, basically there’s no better than any other spammer if you do that. So you need to build up a list organically and find people that are actually interested in what you’re doing and that means you got to build that list. It takes content. It takes work.
So basically my thought is that any person who says that they’re an internet marketer who is selling something based on the notion of all you got to do is upload this and wait for the bucks to roll in. There are frequent liar. It doesn’t work that way. This is a business just like any other business and in order to make money you need to work at it. In order to make really good money you got to really work at it and in order to make really good money you got to really work at it.
And only after you’ve been working at it for some time can you put some systems in the place. Get some outside labor involve and then at that point you can have things happening on an automatic basis and you can enjoy the money that you make but it’s still not going to be completely hands off and if you’re not doing it, it’s because you’re paying other people to do it. So that’s my fault. It was probably wasn’t a surprise for you Kay. And I will answer somebody else’s question tomorrow. I’ll see you guys then.
