It's back to school season with tuition, books and rentals. Let's hope you had enough cash to eat more than just tough ramen. I’ve got iPhone app that will help manage your money.
Hey, there. Welcome App Judgment Revision3’s mobile phone application review show. I'm Stephanie Chu and today we’re checking out Quicken Online Mobile for the iPhone. College, I remember the good old days in budgeting, saving and making financial goals was a laborious task. Mom always gave you advice to live within your means and don't spend more than you make. Easier said than done, right? Not anymore with Quicken Online Mobile. Most things have online banking which records all of your transactions and may even categorize your spending. Paired with the Quicken Online mode app the sea of numbers becomes much more useful and relevant.
As a young adult it's important to be aware of your financial balances as penalties immediately cost you more in fees. In the long run you want to protect your credit. Luckily, the information is now at your finger tips. This app has a simple interface. They're very much like the Quicken website that shows you how much money is ready for spending. At any given moment you’ll know if you're in danger spending more than what's available. In other words you'll know if you have the best of to spend instead of grabbing dinner at a restaurant with your buddies. If you do have enough cash there’s a nifty location based ATM finder that will point you in the right direction.
Once you have enough spending history you can see how much money spent toward school, like dining out, household purchases and entertainment. If you're spending cash you have the option to add your purchases manually, though I'm not entirely sure how many people have the patience with that entry. You can even set up your own categories on the Quicken like alcohol if you're trying to limit spending in that area. Speaking of the Quicken website most of the initial heavy duties setup has to be done via your computer. In order for apps to work, you'll need to register first and then enter in your banking log and information.
The rest is pretty much magic. You might be wondering about how secure this app is given that it uses information that is very personal. As far as I know there's no reason not to trust Quicken. They’ve even going to set for it and added an additional password protection upon launching the app which is something that the highly competitive Mid.com mobile app hasn't done. Now that you’ve seen how Quicken Online Mobile works, here’s a recap of my experience.
Pros, a super clean interface makes your financial information easy to understand. At a glance, track you’re spending trends and progress towards goals. And finally the additional app password helps to keep your private information private. Cons, if there was a filial customer the app won't work in this version of Quicken Online Mobile but there are 8999 other banks that were fine. It's unlikely that soon it will take the time to manually track spending and the ATM locator is a little glitzy. This app is entirely free and it is useful addition for those who are already Quicken users.
If you're a student this a great tool for back to school, download Quicken Online Mobile for the iPhone and iPod Touch. I found Quicken to be the easiest, simplest app for young adults in school. Domain’s app is also great, it's best for those who need to track other types of spending like investment, loans and property. We'll save that for after graduation. Also be sure to visit with Quicken blog. We found that they posted six smart tricks for a living on a budget like buying in bulk and going green.
