Quilting Tips - Installing the angler

Installing the angler is easy. The first thing you’re going to do is cut out this rectangular piece called the key. Use a scissors for the long doted lines on the sides and an Exacto knife to cut the short piece on the bottom. Then take a needle and punch a hole directly on the center of the circle. You’ll then have two pieces, the angler itself and the key.

Next, we’re going to take the key and then install it on our machine by putting the sewing machine needle directly through the hole. When our needle goes through the whole, put our presser foot down, just secure it in place. Then we’re going to take our angler and put it over the top of the key and line it up. To make sure it’s perfectly lined up, I was like to take a straight edge and went it along the presser foot just to make sure I’ve got on straight, in this case I do. And then we’re going to secure it with tape.

I’m going to put a piece of tape on each side of angler, and one on the front of the angler of my tool box is on the back, or on the back of the angler my toolbox is on the front. We can now lift up our presser foot, take the key out. I’d like to secure the key on the side of this sewing machine, so it’s handy if I ever needed it again. And now we’re ready to sew.
