Brie: Hi! My name is Brie, I am from Seattle. My question is, do I need special diet during or after radiation oncology? Mitch Berger: Well Brie, there is no specific diet that you need to be on while you are taking radiation treatment, but people who may be getting radiation to their esophagus, their colon, or their rectum, sometimes get some inflammation in those areas. So it's easier for them if they avoid foods that are high in acid content, very spicy, or extremes in temperatures, either very hot or very cold.
