Shalom. This is the second in a series of videos about raising Jewish children. The first plan I want to make is the concept of SNIU modesty. When I was growing up in Jewish day school, with little song that we were thought, [Singing]. We do not say that we have to dress like the Islamic women who cover everything, but there is a very strong concept of SNIU to Judaism of modesty. In dress and speech and then behavior or the way we look and this is something that we need to teach our children and not being provocative, not being out landish, being moderate and modest.
Second of all, the important of planting seeds. We should be Adugma, a role model not a Duagma stating values. Of course our kids are going to see them we mistakes all people do, but it is important to continue to plant seeds. My favorite planting seeds story, is I just heard this on a funeral of older distinguished Jewish man. Daughter said that the grandfather whenever exists this year and he said it was a secret just between them. One day, when a 2 year was 3, sitting on the back seat of car and he started saying; [foreign language], which means did you have a life of Torah be married under the Hopa and live a life of good deed, which is as common thing, we say that life cycle events The mother said; what is that? He said: I can not tell you, that is the secret code that grandpa has with me. Zedy we have to plant seeds early on about what is important.
Now, college I did not talk about college in last video and college is very important. First one, picking a college I know it is not our choice, but when you are kind a focusing on your children’s college. Plant seeds about the number of Jewish in a tender, is there a hello there? And, now one good question is, are there Jewish courses there? Because children who feel that they do not have a great Jewish education before can learn a ton of a Jewish colleges, there are many, many colleges in the country now that have majors in Jewish studies. Most colleges have courses in Jewish studies, but think about college.
Of course they need to have a Jewish home. Observe Shabbat have a Shabbat dinner together, belong to a synagogue, ten synagogue, and support and encourage you toward education. Talk about Jewish matters at the table goes to Jewish events. Have a Jewish music in the house. All of these in creating a Jewish read Jewish newspapers and periodicals. All of these encourage your children to go to Jewish youth group. Try and figure out the way to send them to Israel and a program, now there is this free program that every Jewish to take advantage 0f 18 to 26 called birth right. These are some of the things we can do to help nurture and encourage the Jewish spark in our children.
