Hi! Everybody it’s DJ Ty from agi@prodj.com bringing you some cool news about the brand new SL3 Interface from Rane for Serato Scratch live. There are lots of questions on this. We are one of the first people on the block to have this. And here it is, the Rane SL3.
Lots of people were calling, “Why should I buy an SL3 over an SL1?” I already own an SL1, the original scratch I’ve been replaced. They came out in April of 2004. I already own one of those. Should I upgrade? Why should I upgrade? Give me some of the differences on it.” We’re going to go over one of those in this video. And that is the auxiliary input. AUX in, old SL1 box had left in, right in, left out, right out, and then had the three outputs. We’re going to cover that in another video.
The cool thing about the SL3 is it’s got an AUX input and an AUX output. So what can you do with the AUX input? I’m going to show you guys. Before, if you wanted to record a mix show with Serato Scratch Live and all you have was an SL1, you had to either use an external recorder. You had to use a separate laptop running separate pieces of software like editing. We don’t need do that anymore.
All you had to run in the background is Serato Scratch Live on your own laptop and then loop it back in the line input. And you know, probably when you’re spinning in a crowd of people, it’s good to just have the one up running on your computer.
So now what they’ve done with this AUX in is you can come out of the record out on your mixer and I’ve got this recorded out on my DJ under into the AUX in of my SL3. And if you look here on the Scratch Live Interface, I now have choices for AUX. Before on an SL1 I had left in, right in, and mic.
Now I’m choosing AUX and you could see my video meter is bouncing there. So you can get a set up, got a nice gain in there, and you press rebond or to record. That’s flashing. I’ll stop my recording. I can go and rename it, agi@prodj.com SL3 AUX in test, and there it is. Under my recorded, create. This is my SL3 AUX in test. I just loaded it on to my left deck and there it is.
I can do anything with it I like I could do before. So I mean you can set a loop with it. It’s just like that and basically in addition to just recording little loops when you’re playing. The thing you can do is record your mixset. So you can record live loops and you could load those into the sampler player which looks like that and that’s a whole other video. So sneak peek on sampler player. We’ll come back to that.
So what I’ve got here is the ability to record my mix now with the SL3 interface, not having to use external hardware and external software. I’m just using what I’ve got with the brand new SL3 interface. So the great way to record your mixes, you can record those right on your laptop. Put them in your editing software, master them out, put them up on your Facebook page, send links to your friends through Twitter. Send them to us. We’d love to hear them.
If you bought and SL3 from us and heck if you haven’t bought an SL3 from us, you want us to check it out definitely. Send us your mix but you can use it for mix CD’s to give out to your customers, patrons at the bar that you’re working at. You could record the entire wedding reception when you’re doing a mobile and you can record the entire reception. And hand that to your bride and groom right at the end of the reception as well or you can, you could master it out and produce that up. I mean give that to them as something else that you could up sale your bride and groom on. And again, make more money out of it.
So that’s the AUX input feature on the SL3 interface from Rane ran on a Serato Scratch Live, I’m DJ Ty from agi@prodj.com. Thanks for checking us out today.
