Hi this is Francisco Bajonfrom Vita Geocam. We are talking about staying fit and the topic for this video is eat much more fruit. This is one of the key nutrition strategies that you can start applying right now if you want to get back in shape, to lose weight that kind of things. The reason why you do not hear much about it in the medias out there, it is not something which is being marketed. Why is that? Because there is no company out there which is making profit out of you eating more fruit, okay?
When you eat more fruit, the food does not need to be process, it is not like a fancy product something that can be marketed. So out there it is not something that you will see advertised a lot. You do not see big billboards saying, “Eat more fruit. Raw fruit is good for you”, these kind of things.” Why? Again, it is not product, which is process so there is no company, which is going to start making big profit out of that.
So, when you want to eat more fruit, when you start focusing your mind with all our needs. You realize that there is lots of potential there. You can use fruits as snacks as breakfast, mixed it with salads, you can have it for lunch, and you can have it for dinner as well.
In many cases you can increase your fruit intake up to 50% or even more if you are open for it. So, one of the key challenge that you are going to face when you want to eat more fruits is simply manage to get the amount of fruit that you really need. I mean in a day you can easily take 4 or 5 pieces of fruits or even more. If you start increasing your diet to more than that and simply taking a banana for instance and eating the banana like that, the whole banana, that is quite a lot. If you want to eat two bananas a day that is quite something. So, what you can do first is eat half a banana instead of a whole banana. So when you have half of banana for snack that is much more manageable that is much easier to take it.
The second thing that you can do is you can have fruit in the form of shakes. In this one I mixed four bananas. There are four oranges and two pears and this makes a whole about two liters of shake for a period of about two days. So use shaker. You put all these fruits in there and you can make a shake out of it, and this will give you about maybe 10 glasses like this one. And these are all snacks for the day. And therefore, you can have one like that for breakfast as well and there is absolutely nothing added to it. It is just pure fruit.
So, I think the limit to keep a shake like that is about two days and after it starts getting a bit more oxidized. You see that it becomes bit brown on the surface but it is still fine. But, that is the whole idea. You see when you have a shake like that is much easier to eat and drink than having a whole pineapple or banana.
In this shake there is probably the amount of four banana and an apple maybe in terms of content. So, when you drink that and this is very easy to drink, and you can have few of those shakes in a day. Now, there is myth out there right which says that bananas make you fat. I do not who started this threat, who started this gossip about bananas that make you fat. I honestly still puzzled about this whole thing because bananas do not make you fat. There is nothing in fruit that makes you fat. But, it makes you fat if you eat tons of it if you are already overload. But, in most situations this is so healthy that is your body does not need much of it.
So, when you eat a banana that hunger signals start lowering very, very fast. Your body does not keep on calling for food over and over again. When you are giving nutrients that are really healthy for your body. The reason why you over eat it is because you eat stuff which is unhealthy for you. The moment you start eating healthy, your body start calling for more. So, you would feel less hunger and you stop over eating at dinner or lunch time. It is that simple really and having fruit as one of the major sources of nutrients, I think, is one of the key strategies that you have to start applying right now.
If you think that you do not like fruit, change your mind because fruit is delicious, it is great. Simply get use to it. Take care and bye, bye.
