Recycle Batteries and Recharge Your Battery Purchases

Batteries are a fact of life. We need them to power the electronic and wireless world we live in, but batteries contain heavy metals like Mercury and Cadmium that are harmful to the environment and billions of these heavy metal batteries are sent to the land fill every year where they can release these harmful metals into our environment.

How can you do your part? First, recycle all your spent disposable and rechargeable batteries. The metal and plastic from the old batteries can be used to make new ones and you will be keeping hazardous wastes out of our land fills.

The second way to do your part is to reduce the number of discarded batteries by investing in rechargeable batteries. One rechargeable battery can replace a thousand disposable batteries and a new self-discharging batteries can hold a charge up to one year and they are already charged when you buy them.

Do your part and convert your home and business to use rechargeable batteries and make sure that every spit battery is properly disposed off. Only a handful of curbside recycling programs will accept batteries but there are many retailers and full-service recycling centers that will take your old batteries.
