Red Meat Intake

Nina: Hi, I am Nina from Davison Michigan. My 26 year old husband enjoys eating at least two servings of red meat per day. I would like to know what are the possible negative health effects that could arise from eating too much read meat?

Maureen Kilofil: Nina, that's an excellent question. The potential downside of eating too much read meat would be consuming too much saturated fat. What you could do to minimize these risks would be to choose the leaner cuts of red meat. Additionally you could have your husband visit his physician regularly. He could measure the cholesterol level and the relationship between the good cholesterol and the bad cholesterol to make sure that they were in the proper balance.
