Now here we've got another typical street attack; stranglehold from behind. Now remember with this attack, they are not just going to stand there and strangle you; they are going to be pulling you off somewhere dragging you backwards. Also, you have got five or six seconds again before you pass out unless you clear the windpipe.
So the first thing guy is going to do is turn his head that a windpipe is in the crook, Gary's elbow here. While he is doing that probably stamping on feet, throwing elbows backwards, anything that's going to distract his attacker. Next thing he is going to do is close out of the hand and come up over to the shoulder into his attacker's face. This is basically just a distraction, where he captures an eye or some skin and fine, his attacker started to head off the rope.
Now from here, there's one sweet motion. As his hands come down, both hands are going to grab the attacker's wrist. From there, as soon as he is grabbing and pulling and he keeps pulling as he steps out on to the attacking arm, keeping hold of the arm until he has got full control and he is ready to escape, putting him a strike or a push away, do what he is got to do to get out of there.
Let's do it again. So the stranglehold comes in. Turning the head, stamping feet, throwing elbows backwards. Close out of the hands, opening to the face. As he comes down, pulling it 90 degrees, keep pulling stepping out underneath the arm. Putting whatever strike he is comfortable with until he can get away and again go just a slowly.
Stranglehold comes in, turns the head, stamping on feet, elbows back. Hands opening to the face, grabs at 90 degrees, stepping it, pulling it, strike and away. Just do a few times. The key thing here as he steps out, he is keeping hold of the the arm until he is able to make his escape. As soon as he got hold of the arm and keeping pulling, keeping hold, keeping control of the arm until he is able to get away. So he is taking the limb away from his attacker.
The stranglehold from behind; the escape technique.
