Hi, I’m Bob Schmidt with Home Remodel Workshop.
Proper job preparation before you start a remodeling project is critical to make sure that the entire project runs through smoothly the way you want it to go. In the next couple of minutes I’ll show you what you need to do. Let’s get to work.
A critical part of job preparation is recognizing what you need to save. Old door hardware is difficult to find so this doors; get to remove this part of the project, you really want to save the hardware.
Brackets for the window treatments also need to be saved. You don’t want to have to stop every time you get to something, to try to remove it a little to slow your project down. This TV mount would be very expensive to replace, I always make sure I remove it and save. Simple things such as tie racks, need to be saved. You used to use them, you want it back.
Every thing should be wrapped and stored in plastic bags with the hardware and screws firmly taped to it and marked where it came from so that you know where it goes back. Some things such as these window treatment brackets; they’re all identicals so they don’t all have to be individually wrapped, and of course, the screws and every thing with the bracket, from the TV hardware.
Other critical part of job preparation is a good durable fan. You need to create a positive air flow going out of the room, preferably to outside. There’s no way that that dust that you’re working with inside the room during a dirty tear out gets into the living quarters of your house. To make sure that you have positive airflow going into your job site is to check out the air is coming around the cracks on the doors that separate the living section from your work area.
Another important thing is to cover the cold air returns in your job. The furnish will circulate that dust throughout your house, spreading it evenly. It’s not something you want to have out.
So there you go, follow these few simple pieces of advice and your job should run much smoother.
