My name is Richard Cottingham; I am from Tysons Auto Specialties. Today we are going to show you how to change the front brakes on a Chevy pickup truck. First we are going to remove the old pads and rudders.
We are starting with the car already we undid the wheels already off the car. Rolando is going to remove the pads, he is going to remove the rudders, he is going to remove the caliper. He is going to start by removing the caliper slide bolts using a ratchet and a T-55 port socket.
Once he gets the caliper bolts removed, we will take the caliper. We will lay it up on top of the upper control arm or some place safe where the caliper is not going to fall down and break the brakers or stretch the brakers too far.
Next Rolando is going to remove the pad holder; we will need an 18mm wrench. Naturally, the tools that you use for your car will vary depending on the type and model. Now he has the pad holder off and I will set that aside and remove the disc brake rudder from the vehicle.
This one fortunately came out easy, some of them have to be beaten off with the hammer or you may need to use a lubricant or penetrating oil to break the rust out. You will get a rust build up between here and the rudder and sometimes over here and back here, and it will cause a rudder to basically get frozen on to the hub. And sometimes you have to be pretty aggressive to get them off.
Now that's how we remove the old pads and rudders. Next, we are going take a look at the caliper slide pins and pad holders and make sure that everything is proper.
