Repairing Corner Bead-Part 2 of 2
When the drywall mud has dried which usually takes about 45 minutes, take the taping knife and scrape the corner bead on the corner of the wall, creating a nice square angle. Add more drywall mud, continually scraping down and up making the corner very straight.
In order to make sure that there is no distinction between the old and new drywall, the new drywall must be feathered into the existing wall. To do this, take a wet rag and thoroughly rub the entire perimeter of the new dried corner, blending its edge with the existing wall texture. Feathering creates a smooth transition between the new and old drywall.
A wet rag is used to do this and dissolves the drywall surface in place of sanding it away with a sanding block which gets drywall dust all over the room and destroys the original wall texture. The new corner of the wall should be even with the existing wall and appear to be nice and smooth. Now, the new corner bead can be textured to match the previous wall texture.
Finally, the corner needs to be primed and painted and then the project is complete. To learn how to properly apply texture, visit the texture section of this DVD through the main menu or press the enter button now on your remote control.
