Gary: Hey everybody, it is Gary Vaynerchuk for Wine Library TV and I am in Vegas, baby. You know about the gambling and all the craziness, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But, it is quickly becoming a culinary and wine institution more master Samoyeds in Vegas than any other city in the world.
Now, we are here at the Wynne which is a fabulous place at the country club. It is just a gorgeous setting and they have a pretty sweet big list here. I know that this is a little bottle of Camos Cabronette in the back end. Say hi to my friend Tony. Tony is the CEO Extraordinaire from Zappos. Tony, say hello to Vineiacs.
Tony: Hello.
Gary: Tony, what is your thing with wine? Do you drink it? Do you hate it? Do you love it?
Tony: I am really more of a Vodka drinker but you may educate me today and I am looking forward to it.
Gary: So, what I really want to do as I have been doing randomly is basically review the listed cells instead of wines. We have done that a couple of times. So, you could see, the country New American Steak House, it looks like that there are about 11 pages of goodness in here. So, let us start going through it. On a sparkling white side, all the relative characters, you got a lot of the big names, PJ, Cliko, Rotarer. I got to admit, I am pretty disappointed that we are not seeing any grower’s champagnes. This is a constant problem with lists out there. The fact of the matter is that I am seeking the one period with crew with Cliko but nothing from Terry Theis which is a major oversight and a little bit of a problem.
There is a nice little loop of white wines including Charlie’s White Goat which I think is an interesting wine of whites. Pinno Greese Reeslings. But again, a very small list of about six or seven of those. Four Sabian Bloncs from California, it is fine. Quite an extensively list of California Chardonette. All of the characters. The Chockial, the Cakc Bread, Matandees Creek, the Raimy, the Raughnbauer, the Talbott, all the standard stuff again coming through. And right off the back going into this very quickly, I am starting to see a very standard, non-outside the box list which is probably fine. I mean, which is very Vegasy. You look for big brands and that is what they are doing. But again, not something that I would say, throughout the wind as a wine lover, you would go out and get to this list. Now, I could be wrong. I am jumping again. We are only two pages in.
Let us keep going. There are a couple of white Burdneys which are nice to see. Mainly, 2006 vintage. Remember, if you can find 2005, white Bergundys, that is the thing that you want to play with.
A pretty small list of Pener Lauer. There are only about ten here which is pretty surprising. Of course, you see William Salem at the end here. Five are lows so there you go. After sideways, more Pinos than Marlous which prior to sideways and Hollywood telling us that that would never ever be the case.
Four or five Cerras, six or seven Zins, the highlights here again. Of the eight Zimfandels, three are thoroughly. We are not seeing a big—check this out. Three thoroughly Zins, a Sagasio of ridge, a Raffeneli, a Martinelli, a Duck Horn. I mean, this is standard city again. So, not super outside the box. Big games, quality producers, don’t get me wrong. But, if you are looking to be a little bit outside the box, you are not finding that there. Now, Mertens or Revlins are awesome. They are always a lot of fun. They got bond which is a great addition. I think I messed up here, I see some Pido Michael, water is being poured. So, Swans and Alexa. Again, not too bad but again, unlike some of the other reviews, we have really been standard.
Now, this is a steak house.
Tony: No. So, this is actually one of the few places that is open for lunch. So, I am sure that the other places that are only open for dinner have better wine selections.
Gary: Yes. I have been to some. And by the way, this wine just so you know is not bad. It is just very, very standard. So, all these stuff, you kind of always see. Kind of like go into more in steak house or
