Heads up displays or HUD’s such as this one are pretty nifty because they’re like onscreen control panels and dash boards with buttons and things you can click to control your avatar and other features. As you can I’m doing it right here. Isn’t that cute, he’s laughing and waving.
Well you may know that you can move one around by right clicking and edit it. And if you have a mouse wheel scroll, we all can zoom in and out with that. If you don’t, hold down ALT or command key and then you can press the—hold down the left mouse button and move it. Drag it like that.
This is good to know because if you accidentally drag an HUD off screen like that and exit HUD mode. You maybe like “Oh my gosh, how do I get that back?” Well there is a pretty simple workaround. So say for example you’re on a buildable area. You can right click and create a cube as I often tend to do. Then you right click the cube and more and attach HUD. Cause any object with an HUD and go ahead and set it to the center. So then it appears here.
And what you do with that next while it’s selected is you move the scroll wheel and there it is. You can see it. And remember like I said, if your mouse doesn’t have a scroll wheel. I’d really recommend one though. Now hold down ALT or command, zoom in and out until you see the HUD then you can right click at it and then of course with the portioning arrows can drag it back down. And when you exit the mode, it’ll snap back into place just like that. And now you can go ahead and right click that and detach it. And now it’s back. Your HUD has been found.
