Retro Makeup How Mad Mens Winged Eyeliner
Zelana Montminy: Retro Hollywood eye makeup is always in style. We’ve seen this 50’s glam look worn in classic style on Angelina Jolie and more flirty and feminine on Mad Men’s Joan Holloway. Whether you go with a strong matte lip or just a fresh face, this look speaks for itself. We’ve asked MAC expert, Christopher del Castillo to show us how to get Hollywood retro eye makeup.
C. del Castillo: The retro 50’s eyeliner is always in style. Let me show you how to do it. What you’re going to need to this Mad Men inspired look is a highlight shadow, a contour shadow, black eye liner, black mascara and red lipstick.
The first step is to use your highlight shadow all over the eye from lash to brow. You use the contour color that’s closed to your natural skin tone. I'm using a brush that’s a little bit of a different shape that fits to right into the socket of the eye.
The next step on Kat is we’re going to use a black liquid eyeliner, which is going to look really nice with Kat, lovely lashes. Using an eyeliner that has automatic delivery system with a felt tip for very precise application. So right against the lash line here because there’s no space between your lashes and the liquid liner.
Now I'm going to show you the most important part of this look, the wing. Move the eyeliner from the outside end and draw a straight line into the lash line and let your wing tip go to right about where you start to feel the bone of the socket again. Again, with this look, the really important part is the liquid liner and it’s your choice whether you want to extend the flick at the end longer or shorter, it just depends on how dramatic you want the look to be. Use a nice healthy coat of black mascara.
The next step is to use a really true red on the lips. With the lip brush, it’s a lot easier to get control and shape the lips. So this is the red lip and this is actually the finish look and I think it looks really beautiful on Kat.
Kat: Thank you. I love it.
C. del Castillo: You’re welcome.
Zelana Montminy: Thanks a lot from Pop Sugar TV. Stay beautiful.
