So, now we are on the flip cam again and I know the lighting. I got to keep it on front of me, not behind me. I know I just made some of you throw up, just traveling in my little Jets hoody. I’m in Tennessee, Nashville. I’m going to give you a little shot of Nashville out there, beautiful Nashville. Is that Vanville in the background, you guys see that?
So, I’m in Nashville and I’m in this beautiful hotel called Hutton and I’m here for L’Ete Du Vin 38 anniversary tasting. L’Ete Du Vin is a great event as you can see by this little catalog from tonight’s tasting. We’ve got a bunch of California wineries Bo Barrett, Peter Montavi, Heidi Barrett. I mean real, real, Doug Frost, real legends and a little Omni. So I’m here at the hotel and I’m hoping there’s wine because I need an episode for you guys today and I appreciate it everybody who likes to flip cam episodes. I’ll try to settle it down. But there might be no wine so there isn’t—you’ll never see this.
So, let’s see what’s going on here. Oh, look at this little candies, nice little hotel little candy action. Let’s open this okay, oh, crap. I need a key, all right okay. So, hoping that this hotel which is hosting the wine events had some wine, we’ll be doing the hotel wine thing lately. It’s been a lot of fun. Let’s see what’s going on here. There we go and bingo! Oh, gees! This is going to pint out real well at that Pinots cold. We’ve got two very serious efforts here, the Hess Select Chardonnay, which comes from the Su’skol vineyard you could see right there and the Au Bon Climat 2007 Pinot Noir, too very serious wines for half bottles, some pretty impressed lets see here’s the menu. Let’s see the price of the Au Bon Climat is $38.00 and they Hess Select is $28.00, pretty s tips, so first little advice at here at Hutton, good wines, little pricey. Lets see if we can find a corkscrew, got it over here. Let’s just set it over here, got it. Here I am. Let me just open this up.
So, Hess Select, Hess collection excuse me, one of the more serious Chardonnay’s for the years. As matter of fact, when I first got involved in the wine business, the Hess collection Chardonnay 94 I remember was insanity, just one of the hottest wines ever got a huge core from the expatiator. Everybody was looking forward. It was under $20 bones. They got like 94 points. It’s like crazy like that and the Chardonnay was a big, big winner, as well.
So really Hess has been quite strong in the mid to late 90’s kind to tilde off in the last decade, now quite the brand that it used to be. Again, keep in mind when we review this, the Pinot Noir is on the cold side. Maybe ill review it again tomorrow for you guys. I’ll try to warm it up in my glass, see what we can do there. Au Bon Climat, ABC one of the premier producers long before sideways. Long before sideways hit the scene and made this whole set of Maria Valley area rock and roll Au Bon Climat has been getting great impression. Really great job to the Hutton here, and have this little restaurant here that I heard is really good the, 1808. We’ll check that out.
Great job! I mean this is another example of people were traveling we talk about this at the W Hotel episode or maybe at the Compton. You know people travel Sofitel, at the Sofitel, people traveling and there are a lot of people getting into wine to get these nicer hotels. There’s a real opportunity to do a much bigger half bottle wines scene I think, problem at hand is that way too many people are you know overpricing them, so little hefty on the prices and not giving enough selection. I’m going kind of inexpensive and cheap, hot and kills it well qualities are too exceptional place. It could probably do a little bit of a better job on pricing, but still not trousseaus out of this convenience and everything. I mean the Snickers bars, I mean let’s be honest. I’m picking on the wine category who wants to pay $6.00 for Figgie water or a five for some chocolate crackers or let’s see here. Maybe you’d rather pay $15.00 for Johnny Walker Black. Let me just see yeah $15.00, Oh, and it’s plastic. So maybe the shard and the Pinot are not so bad afterwards. Got a couple of choices of glasses here, I got this little guys right here and I’ve got from the coffee play, got this right here, so many this one of each.
So, the hot on the review scale of the glass were unlike the W in San Diego is a little bit of a past. Let’s get into the Chardonnay. Let’s see what’s going on here. Actually this is more like—wait a minute are this stainless? Maybe these are stainless wine glasses. Yeah you know what, my fault I would say these are. You know I thought they were like you know water glasses but my bad, good job to Hutton. I apologized. There is nobody here I just to prove it.
Yup, Matt your job is clearly safe. I guess what I was trying to show everybody, there was nobody there, I hit the button and thus you know turned it off. So, clearly still working on my flip cam skills back to the Hess Su’skol Chardonnay from Hess collection, sorry about that. Matt, I know your laughing or ass off right now. So, again yes, butter scotch, a little oak coming through, great classic Chardonnay flavors but not over oak and almost more burgundy on the nose. Let’s give it a whirl. I can’t believe I spent $60.00 on this wine. You know what that is one good bottle of Chardonnay, really good fruit coming through, really good complexities, good saddle oak coming through, balance through out. I like the acid on the back-end. I like the creaminess of the upfront fruit and there is also substantial length on the back-end of this wine, very nice, quite surprising. And once again, shows you there’s quality out there even in California Chardonnay which Napa Valley in California chardonnay. I have absolutely been a little bit of disrupt, but this wine shows amazing balance, a little burp wood action, kind of you poured some old furniture like you should have sold up anticorodal where you can’t sell it and appraise it.
So, that kind of smokiness of the true—you know the way to use make furniture in the old school people you know what I am talking about or East European. So a very good bottle wine from Hess for the Su’skol I’m sorry, I kept looking at it, I better look at you guys. I’m going to score this wine 90 points. This is a real take me back. I mean one of the better California Chardonnays that I’ve tasted in the wild. That in the full bottle would probably be in that $20.00, $25.00 range retail. I’m quite surprise, almost playing around. I’m going to probably email in after this and ask them what the scene is this is half bottle exclusive. The hotels and restaurants, is there something that we can get a very impressive bottle of wine from Hess and a very good start for the Hutton
Let’s have another glass, now we’re doing the 07 Pinot of which we may haven’t stock it one level. I’m not quite sure but carried all time, so have it. Half bottle just warming up a little bit. Let’s see what’s going on, on the snippy sniff. A little bit tighter, you’re going to get—I mean this is a little cool. Let’s going to try and break it up and warm it up a little bit. While doing that you know what while I’m am doing that, incase you read some comments from the episode yesterday. You know, I’ve got my computer so out little yapping, kill a little time might not be the tightest show ever. I’ve already screwed it up. But see if the wireless works in here while the Pinot warms up, want to really appreciate everybody who’s going on this journey with us on the Thunder show, 667 episode flip cam from Tennessee. We are absolutely pushing it Vayniacs. I appreciate it. Here’s the Hutton wireless boom join come on. We have a couple of comments for the Thunder Show. I loved it, love it. I’m in. I am in. Look what is going on here. You’re going to pretty, pretty face. Let’s close in some messenger before I keep them aborted, quit and let’s read some comments. Let’s see what’s going on here, the latest comment is from Bromo Drag. Gary, everyone is pointing out that you should have the window behind the camera which is good advice but some cameras have backlight button or function which allows you to film the bright lights behind you if that’s the best. Thank you I appreciate it everybody commented about me doing it in the back of the light. I apologize I’m so sorry.
Sloppy episode Jim Shove excess, fitting for 666 camera jerking around. We have our recording time, had to wait a while for you to get the spit bucket. It looks to me like you’re other ventures are causing you to wing it on Wine Library TV as we say down south, don’t forget to dance with who sprung you. Jim, if I dance, I’ll dance with my family that’s sprung me. I appreciated your comments and I respect that. But something about the flip cam in probe shows exciting for me but your viewer and I appreciate it so much. It wasn’t sloppy. It’s just that I like to in prop the flip cam shows, maybe not totally or style but traveling go out now, it’s getting harder to tape ahead. I do apologize I never forget where I came from and I promise you it’s not Wine Library TV, though I love everybody who watches the show.
Let’s move on, R&D said JV note to your self, always keep the windows behind the camera. I’m sure there are others who commented, yes they did. Sue says, great show, please do more off sight segments like this. Sue, I’ll try it. It’s hard. Let’s keep going, do a couple of more flip it. Oh 007 say, “Where is Matt? It will fix your camera for you. I can’t see nothing?” I think you met Matt I checked L says—no excuse me, Vanessa Miller responding Jakabel says, I think I have the keys of wine flu the other day from Marquette. We would reference the Jim Henderson says, “I absolutely love in capital letters your show.” Guys, thank you keeping the comments coming. I appreciated it.
Now let’s move back on to the Au Bon Climat 2007 State Pinot Noir, one of the great producers from this area of Santa Maria. Long time producer Jim Clendenen is just a legend and—just warming it up. Let’s give it a snippy sniff. Getting a little dried kind of a cranberry component coming through here, I little bit of a leather play as well and a little bit of the strawberry action something. But a very tight all three of those aspects pretty settle. The letter start to come to a little bit more kind of like you took off a Nike and you’ve smelled it. Let’s give it a whirl. Great right cherry coming through. I like the bacon fat. That is completely bombarding my mouth here on the back-end. Also an eggnog play I taste it exceptional level of eggnog in this wine, which I find quite fascinating and the flavor that started picking up a little bit here and there.
So, little bit of like a spicy eggnog on the finish like maybe if you put some $15.00 Johnny Walker Black into your eggnog. Let me give me one more shot. It’s so little cold, so you got to keep that on mind. It’s adding a little bit of flavors but clearly the bacon fat play isn’t play. There’s a great amount of strawberry action which I liked a quite a bit, good solid length. The tense are little bit bitter on the finish, nothing crazy. Nothing awesome but well balanced and this eggnog is undeniable as a matter of fact it’s quite over the top and maybe it's because its chilled in eggnog colder that sensation flavors becoming a little more apparent to me. I like this why though. I’m going to score 89 points. I think it’s quite good a little bit—lacking on the intensity and really the charisma factor just at second layer that I looked in Pinot Noir is a little bit more dirtiness maybe hidden by the cold that is definitely something that we need to keep in mind. But a very nice bottle of Pinot Noir, very serviceable and two spectacular efforts in my bartender in Room bar here at the Hutton in Nashville Tennessee. One more shot, good wines just want to go back and make sure. I’m double thumbs up for the Hess.
Question of the day and first of all thank you so much and I do apologize if anybody feels like these shows are sloppy. My intension are to pop out content for you guys because I saw appreciate you guys following me and I feel like I owe it to the Vayner Nation that come through everyday. So this with flip cams, I know I’m just a little more fun and gear you know, I’m just a little bit of different mindset and trust me I know you sing a couple mini role but I will be back to normal formal quite soon. Because the baby is coming and ill be around quite a bit. There could be some baby after from this apartment.
Anyway, question of the day: Word association and please leave a comment. I’m going to this thing tonight. I’ve got events here in Tennessee all weekend I’m going to absolutely tape some shows and with somebody’s maybe celebrities in the wide world will read of your comments. So please leave comment tonight. It would mean a lot to me I’ve seen a trick a little bit, because I’ve been away but I’m reading them just to get it stay. What is association, I see Nashville you say “You with a little bit of me, we are changing the wine world, cool.”
