Hey rhythm strummer, here’s a really cool guitar part from the Beatle song Revolution one.

I can only do the 30 seconds of the tune. So I’m going to save a little bit of it for later. But let me show you that guitar part, that guitar part is great in that song. You can use it in all kinds of other songs. Now, there’s two things that are going on and I will show you how they go.
Okay, let me show you what I was doing there. This is called the shuffle [Demonstration]. And another step that I’m playing it doesn’t sound like [Demonstration]. The notes die off very quickly instead of continuing the was they are right now, and the reason they die off so quickly is because I'm muting with my hand by placing this part of my hand against the strings just in front of the bridge. Now this is called palm muting hand. There’s a whole lesson about palm muting in the technique library at RhythmStrummer.com. So you might want to check that out. But what it does, it makes that electric guitar sound and the acoustic guitar sound more electric, sound more like a [Demonstration], because it work kind of bottom sound.
Okay, with my left hand, this is an A-chord, although I’m really only playing two strings for the whole lick or I'm playing the 5th string open and I'm playing the 4th string on the second fret and I am also keeping my finger on the third string on the second fret in case I slap over, that way it still sounds good because its [Demonstration]. And I’m really only trying to hit this two strings, and I’m also adding this with adding my pinky on the forth fret and then back again.
Now there is a lot of different ways to play this kind of shuffle beat, the sort of standard, what you think of as the Chuck Berry style as to go [Demonstration]. And the particular song we were just playing, doesn’t stop up for two beat and just one beat and it goes, so it goes second fret, second fret, forth fret, second fret [Demonstration].
Notice that I'm not playing even beat, [Demonstration]. But I’m playing [Demonstration]. This is the shuffle feel, also called swing [Demonstration]. Now a lot of blues is just based on doing this [Demonstration].
Okay, so that is the A-chord, you need some other chords. And the key in there is great because the basic three chords in the key of A are A and D, and E so here is A. Now to get D, you just move one string that way. So we got this open string and this string on the second fret, and I’m going to put my middle finger on the third fret of the second string in case I missed [Demonstration].So I’ve got those notes. This is the part of the D chord [Demonstration]. And now I’m going to use my ring finger to play the first fret on the third string and then open, I mean that on second fret [Demonstration]. That is the D- chord. Let’s go back to the A-chord [Demonstration].
Now, the third chord that you’ll need is an E-chord. Did you get that? You just move one string this way on the lower strings and you got [Demonstration] that open note. This fifth string on the second fret, fourth string, I'm just holding down on the second fret too in case. And again, I'm just trying to hit this bottom two and I'm going [Demonstration]. That’s your basic three chords so that you could play you know [Demonstration] just about any blues you can get with this.
