Urban Sustainable Living is published by Patti Moreno the Garden Girl. She started gardening in 1998, as a way to not only eat healthier, but also to lose the weight that she had gained during her recent pregnancy. Her frequent shopping trips to the gardening supply aisles of a local home improvement warehouse earned her the nickname Garden Girl from one of the stores sales associates. After much trial and error, Patti was able to transform the backyard of her Boston home into an in-town garden that now produces almost all of the food her family eats. looks delicious, do you add the broth little by little (risotto style) or just like regular rice?

Rice with Chicken Broth

Patti Morena: I have a really neat tip for making a meal with delicious rice. What I do is I use chicken broth instead of water. Now because I have got two cups of rice, I am going to need four cups of a liquid. So I have got my chicken broth and I will measure that out. Yeah it's two cups. Got the rice boiling in the back and now I am going to take my corn and I am going to add this fresh corn to my rice, these make that delicious. Corn is absolutely one of those amazing things. They ever try and -- oh cool. When we get this corn in there, I am going to put a few, freshly chopped herbs in with the rice as well. This is some fresh basil from the garden. It smells so wonderful. Give it one last little mix. So, I am going to check on my rice and see if it is done. Hmm, look at that. I have got my corn and white rice that we made in chicken broth. Add some chopped out pieces of basil in it, perfect. Fresh tomatoes, so well, I am going to mix these and I am going to -- that is delicious.
